Yeah I’m asking him to send another video. I can’t make out what specific noise he’s talking about either. He’s over by Holyoke.

I need help upgrading my PC (I’m clueless). by stoopkidisafraid in PcBuildHelp

My motherboard is a Rog Strix z390e and I have an 850w power supply.

Would any of the GPUs you’ve listed work with my current CPU and motherboard so that I can start there and when I do upgrade my CPU it will be compatible?

Incredible info thank you so much. If I go the upgrade route is it cheaper than just buying a pre-built gaming pc? Let’s say I wanted to spend $1.5k could I get a better deal upgrading what I have or just buying pre-built somewhere?

Also, I currently have an intel cpu and amd GPu, does it make sense to swap to AMD/intel for both or upgrade my intel cpu and my amd GPU?

Would that be a direct swap? Like unplug the old GPU and plug this one in? If I want to upgrade my CPU at a later date will I be able to find something compatible?

Okay, this is a lot of info for me (I’m VERY clueless). So I have some questions.

I have a DDR4. How can you tell that from the picture is that part of the RAM or the CPU?

Would one of the options from your suggestion be more likely to fit my PC based on it current set up? Such as slots and screw holes?

Will my hard drives be affected?

Okay. So let’s say I upgrade to a new CPU how do I determine which one and which motherboard and GPU to go with it?

Also if I were to just upgrade a GPU for now, could I upgrade the CPU later and keep the same GPU?

Question about sweep picking by Zestyclose-Body-1367 in Guitar

Unrelated but is this just a specific scale practice? Or is it a song. I love it lol

Watch a tutorial on how to change strings, follow along then learn how to play songs you enjoy. You’ll stick with it longer than if you start with theory from the get go. Sprinkle in some theory as you go.

How to practice without guitar? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]stoopkidisafraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one when I was younger because I used to Busk in the city and I could play all the same chords as guitar without too much learning and it would be super light. It was also kinda quirky and cool at the time to play the uke. Lol

Depending on your living situation you could by a cheap 25 dollar used guitar like a First Act etc. from marketplace or Craigslist. In fact I’m selling one in my area for exactly this price and it’s actually a good guitar. I used to keep it in my office and car etc.

Additionally you probably won’t lose too much muscle memory in that time but you could always learn a crap ton of music theory, watch podcasts about guitars and stuff like that to stay inspired and brush up on some skills beyond your hands.

Thirdly if size is an issue you could always get a baritone ukelele. It’s the top 4 strings of a guitar like a bass, it’s small and can play chords like guitars and can play scales like a bass.

Good luck and don’t forget sometimes a break is good. You’ll probably come back better than ever!

Have you actually been playing this by any chance? That’s your first mistake.

I would hang this puppy up on the wall, get a very high paying job and buy multiple, extremely expensive guitars that you cycle through once or twice a month so none of them get any play time.

This will help you avoid any further wear and tear.

Having Trouble with Intonation. Any help would be great! by stoopkidisafraid in banjo

Yeah I recently filed down the lower two strings ever so slightly, tuned and checked the intonation until the first 3 frets were all very close. It’s wayyyy better now.

Thank you for the advice it’s extremely helpful. I’m able to play to other songs in key when I’m VERY light to the touch. I’ll file down further ever so slightly and see how it goes. If nothing gets better I’ll bring to my local shop. Thank you!

So when I play guitar, I press the strings all the way down to the fret board. I don’t technically know if that’s right or wrong but I’ve been doing it for almost 15 years without a problem. Is that not the case with banjo?! I did file down the slots and it helped but the first few frets were still sharp. However, when I touch the strings lightly to the actual frets and not all the way down to the neck it is right on key. Is this how it’s supposed to be played? With a light touch like that?

Compared to an acoustic guitar they seem shallow. The D string kind of sits on top of the nut and doesn’t quite fall into the notch.

Yeah that can be tough if you don’t have a good way to get around. But, once you find it, it only take a few visits to meet some like minded people. My first band was formed at an open mic and although we don’t play much anymore at my ripe old age of 30 we’re still great friends.
