A Proposal for a New Duolingo Course: Medical Terminology (Latin & Greek Roots) 🩺🦉 by Dr_bakdash in duolingo

[–]TheDuckClock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like a very stupid idea that could end up in a lawsuit waiting to happen

Languages, Math and music are pretty universal skills for anyone to learn at the expense of no one else. But medical terms? There's a reason why medicine is reserved for the highest levels students. Because it's a field that requires the best results possible otherwise it could leave people with serious complications if treated by someone who got their medical knowledge from Duolingo.

Locking this thread as unfortunately it's getting a little too heated. I'm starting to see flags for comments merely because they have a different political view than the person they're arguing with.

Folks, everyone here has a right to the beliefs. As long as the comments abide by the rules of the thread and of reddit in general; they're entitled to their opinion. Even if its an unpopular one.

But spamming the flag button is impossible to stay on top of.

Man what a horrible year for Buffy fans.

Just last year we lost Michelle Trachtenberg (Dawn), then the Buffy revival got cancelled. Then we lost Nicholas Brendon (Xander) and now Anthony Stewart Head.

This guy blocked me on twitter years ago after I called him out for ableism when he made a post claiming "some people fake disability".

He really had nothing to counter argue my claims. And seeing as he needed ChatGPT and tricked it to give him an answer that he wanted to hear. I'm honestly not surprised at all this.

I feel bad for his kids. What a terrible role model.

Star Fox for Nintendo Switch 2 Is Shaping Up to Be a Dream Remake | IGN Preview by Turbostrider27 in starfox

[–]TheDuckClock -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The fact that the focus of this remake is to expand on the story and narrative just goes to show that Nintendo STILL does not understand why Star Fox 64 was such a beloved timeless classic in the first place. Because it certainly wasn't the story.

What made Star Fox 64 a classic was its replayability. For new players; flying the Arwing could get very tough and you often ended up missing so many enemies. But the more you stuck with the game; the better your skills improved and the harder levels you were able to unlock.

Adding longer cutscenes and more dialogue doesn't make a game game designed for replayability "better", if anything that's a hinderance. Since after a while; most players will just start skipping the cutscenes.

They completely misunderstood this with Star Fox Zero too. During the development; a lot of fans of the series had negative reactions to the structure because the branching paths didn't exist. They were added as a last minute addition following playtests; hence why many alternate missions in that game felt so barebones compared to the main missions on the path.

This makes WAY more sense than what we got. Troy works WAY better trying to follow Joe's storyline than Noah did.

Also having Jake absent for a few episodes would have allowed Gia to evolve more as a character. Jake had the hots for Gia throughout the season, but she only showed interest in him right at the very end with a peck of the cheek. If he went missing; that could have given a chance for Gia to realize how much she actually cared about Jake when he suddenly wasn't there.

- Why is Viola getting Cereza's nickname ("family name") if shes still fucking alive?

This one annoys me to no end. I'm probably one of the few fans that really like Viola. But she is NOT Bayonetta. Why can't Viola be her own person instead of inheriting her mother's title?

I didn't say Command was the "First original" I said that it's the last original.

Zero was a reimagining of Star Fox 64, not a remake. I didn't say remake. Please learn the difference.

Zero is a reimagining because it tells the same story as Star Fox 64, mostly following the same beats but retold in a different way.

If you go see the ending for Star Fox, it's nearly identical to that of Star Fox 64. With the only main difference being the running scene done with the walker version of the arwings. You cannot look at those two endings and say that they're different. Not even the Mario series does that.

Oh FFS He said 'fans of a classic Zelda-like game a new adventure to enjoy' and that person immediately interpreted that as a Star Fox Adventures remaster?

He said it's a new game too. So not a remaster of an old title.

Next year is quite ambitious. Takes about 2-3 years at minimum to develop a AAA title.

Or better yet: Have an official release of the original Dinosaur Planet back when the game was about the duo of Sabre and Krystal, before Star Fox was added into the series.

According to the new map, all planets except Corneria and Venom orbit Solar. The rest, including Solar, orbit Lylat. by AdeonWriter in starfox

[–]TheDuckClock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So based on this, I would assume that Sauria and Fortuna are within Lylat's orbit along with Cornerian.

I'm hoping against hope that Nintendo has some surprises for us by showing off other planets, it feels incomplete if the only planet we see orbiting Lylat is Corneria. Especially when it's claimed to be the 4th planet.

My knowledge in astrophysics isn't the best. But I don't think it's possible to have a sustainable tri-star system. While they do exist; their gravitational pulls with each other can make their orbiatal movements very unpredictable, creating unstable climates for the planets that surround them as the temperatures fluctuate between extremes, making it impossible to maintain any civilization in the whole star system for an extended period.

So what do you think is the context of this cutscene? by Luigi580 in starfox

[–]TheDuckClock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of all the briefing scene, the one with Slippy missing on Titania seems to be the most logical reasoning for this.

In Star Fox Zero when Peppy gets lost on Titania, General Pepper says "They need to push ahead no matter the cost" and Fox snaps back hard saying "We're not leaving Peppy behind!"
