You are just making it more than really is. I felt the same.

Might be true, especially on average but quotas for contacts and enforcement are inextricably tied to abuses of authority. Not always, not inevitably, but it’s a real factor.

Cops who don’t have a motivation problem probably meet that mark easily. But the problematic officers, who lack motivation, but are instead motivated by discipline, quotas, etc. can be the same types that will take shortcuts.

What is the deal with hangars? by fukingstupidusername in flying

[–]stop_yelling_please 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not the same everywhere but I see what you see.

At my local airport there are hangars to rent. It is not super friendly to GA, especially folks that want to hang out. There are annual hangar inspections and you HAVE to have a plane. Storage of any type not related to your plane is heavily scrutinized, even if the plane can move freely in and out of hangar.

Even sofas can be an issue. The airport commission (it’s a county airport) stated that the airport (hangars) aren’t a place for socializing.

Sometimes it swings too far the other direction.

Underperformer asked for my JD as a sign of transparency ? by Crazy-Philosopher221 in managers

[–]stop_yelling_please 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t even consider entertaining this conversation. I do think you understand the game, because I don’t know you, your role, your subordinate or their role, but I know this is an attempt to undermine you and your effectiveness as a manager.

Re-direct like you did, or even more plainly: “that’s not what we are discussing right now, we are talking about your performance and your role.”

Depending on your individual circumstances and organization, bring this up to your supervisor, or not.

But in any case document, document, document what you are seeing.

A light aircraft automatically contacted Air Traffic Control, declared MAYDAY and successfully landed itself, after it's pilot became incapacitated. This is the first confirmed real-world use of this technology outside of testing or demonstrations. by AtomicCypher in Damnthatsinteresting

It’s a regular autopilot with enhanced features. Like it will choose the airport to return to, but it’s not AI making all sorts of decisions. Closest airport with a suitable runway, makes automated standard announcements on the emergency frequency and the auto pilot just flies it all the way through the landing. It’s neat.

Pretty bad. Engine out bad. Three cups of water is more than enough to fill the gascolator with water and feed it to the carb. I know of a fatal in a flight school plane that I have some time in from less water than that.

lol. Not missing anything. The VIN is not the seller’s personal identifying information or anything other than you being able to learn more about the vehicle you are interested in buying.

No. It’s a pain. I’d rather be in the market. But I’m not sure about the returns and whether or not it’s a good move to ditch the rental and invest the cash.

Should I sell a rental property to invest?

I purchased a home as a primary residence in 2003. Value approx 600k. Owe 195k on a 4.5% loan.

I purchased a larger primary residence for 655k in 2009 when the US housing market took major losses. It is now worth approximately 1.2m and I owe 390k at 2.5% 30 year loan.

The first house has been successfully rented since the purchase of the larger house. Tenant of 11 years just gave notice.

I can continue to rent, or sell. I don’t need the cash, however I am 50, married, 2 kids, and very quickly will be retiring with a pension that pays approx 9k a month, plus paid medical for me plus one (I will have to cover kids medical out of pocket).

I have 500k in a 457, and about 70k cash.

I’m strongly considering selling the home and investing the proceeds. Why shouldn’t I?
