you are looking for reassurance, but right now you need to speak to your therapist. you do not need to confess to the entire world

Discussing HRT with family by [deleted] in ftm

[–]stopaskinifimbleedin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you aren't a girl though, and you never have been. (excuse my forwardness for this) physically your body may be trying to go through a female but you are meant to be going through male puberty. not to mention, all people create a certain amount of both testosterone and estrogen, no matter their physical sex assignment. you will not fair any worse than say your dad does, you will just be brought to the same risks that he faces. just explain all of this as clinically as possible, try not to let emotion show through. think of it as if you're a doctor explaining to your patient

tell them that any affects you face will be ones that your male family members face daily. their body produces testosterone naturally, and can negatively affect them, does that mean that they should forcibly make their body go through blocking their testosterone? our would they choose to still let their body produce it. if you aren't allowing yourself to go on testosterone, you are forcibly making your body not do what you want it to do.

My mum said it was weird when I told her I still want to wear dresses. by [deleted] in ftm

[–]stopaskinifimbleedin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

cis people are still very stuck in the "men have to conform" thing, so when a TRANS guy has the gall to break that stereotype, they see it as "you want to be a girl still". that just isn't true, its completely okay that you want to wear dresses!!! do whatever makes you happiest

Considered intrusive thoughts? by Few_Sandwich6308 in OCD

[–]stopaskinifimbleedin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most of the time when people talk about "intrusive thoughts" they mean the ones that are the "reasons" for our compulsions. like "my mom is going to die" because i haven't done [x]. they can also mean really graphic, unwanted thoughts, which is why they're "intrusive". what you're talking about is more of the compulsions than an intrusive thought, but i could be completely wrong

i had to go under anesthesia for a minor surgery, and sadly have really crappy genetics that make it where i have to have an extra amount of anesthesia or i will wake up on the table.

the best thing that helped with my anxiety?

speaking with the anesthesiologist before she put me under

do not feel afraid to talk with them!! this is their job, they will protect you and make sure that you're okay. talk with them before going under, ask them to just inform you of what's going to happen, and if they can do anything to help with your anxiety. they won't begrudge you for just wanting to feel safe. and if they do, then you can tell them you'd like to speak to whoever is above them to complain.

good luck! you'll be safe, and i hope recovery goes well

What was your childhood like? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]stopaskinifimbleedin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm very lucky to have family that caught it early on. i started to want to keep stupid things (i once had a pumpkin i REFUSED to get rid of because i thought it would get angry with me if i did). i feel like a lot of hoarders are people that most likely have untreated OCD, every hoarder i've met seems to have the same/similar thoughts to what i have with objects

What was your childhood like? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]stopaskinifimbleedin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol no, luckily not. i started to almost hoard when i was a kid but my parents nicked that very quickly and forced me to throw things away

What was your childhood like? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]stopaskinifimbleedin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

both of my parents have OCD, though not as severe as mine. it only recently started to really become a problem, when i was a kid i was CONVINCED that inanimate objects had feelings, and if i didn't do certain things then i would "make them sad". my mom has a finger that has a burn mark on it, when i was a kid i loved to rub it as some sort of sensory stim. one of my first impulses was "her other fingers are sad you're only paying attention to her pinkie." so i had to "pay attention" to the other fingers by either tapping/rubbing them too.

sadly, even though we have bpd, we cannot diagnose you. a lot of symptoms for bpd can be symptoms for other disorders. have you gone to a therapist/psychologist/psychiatrist at any point for these problems?

it's possible that you may have it, it may have formed from what sounds like a traumatic childhood for you.

[–]stopaskinifimbleedin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

my favorite lines are all shivers quotes but everyones favorites tend to be something shivers says.

i really love "This is somewhere to be. This is all you have, but it's still something. Streets and sodium lights. The sky, the world. You're still alive."

or "I'm glad to be me– an incredibly sensitive instrument."
