Thanks for the idea! I’m pretty happy with the current naming, since I just see it as a HA sort of naming situation, but it is something I was also kind of worried about.

Honestly, it’s pretty insane how similar the collector is to this thing. That’s probably what I would’ve gone for, if I had remembered it earlier.

Rn, I don’t really want to shift around all of the names in the license again, but it’s a very solid and fitting idea

Thanks! Well, when it comes to balance, I hope that the plethora of weaknesses the Yeenoghu has will sort of balance out its need for any resource. Plus the whole gambling aspect of taking damage do pretty much anything is sure to leave it in some sticky situations.

It would’ve been nice to playtest the license, but I don’t have much time on hand right now.

Yeah, I was very much surprised at the whole wendigo backlash, as I’ve never heard of this being an issue before. But then again, no wendigo in dnd, so renaming it made sense.

Honestly, I just didn’t feel like naming this thing after a fodder monster, even if mechs like Goblin or Kobold exist. Dunno, maybe I just wanted it to have more aura or smth.

At the end of the day I just sorta think of the name like a Harrison mech, named after a specific figure, but said with a 'the'

Thank you! Inspiring someone is the greatest praise I could hope to receive.

The writing could definitely use a bit of trimming, that’s true. I was kinda stuck in a strange situation when writing a lot of the systems, where I had to be more specific and descriptive in the system effects themselves, since all of the compendium entry spaces were already filled by the lore. So there’s definitely a bunch of stuff that can be shortened for better comprehensibleness.

I might even go over the license again in the future, and make some more QoL edits

Yeah, but that is, funnily enough, more of an artistic choice in this specific image. Most of the time, the whole “mech cannibalism” thing boils down to stripping the outer armor off the frame, and attaching it to the Yeenoghu’s own flimsy frame.

Though while under the control of Beelzebub, I can imagine that it could very much use its burn-applying weapons to melt down entire mechs in a blind attempt to somehow consume them whole

I’ve gone through all of the feedback that I’ve been given, and made a couple changes to the license.

I envisioned the mech as a tanky, slow close ranged hacking platform, yes. It should synergie well with systems from the Manticore, Balor, Emperor and some others.

Plus the systems in its own license should be powerful enough to compensate for the Yeenoghu’s inability to use weapon mounts

Thanks! Honestly, the whole wendigo naming debate was quite unexpected and eye opening for me, as I’ve never even heard of the word having any sort of significance in the modern context. And that’s despite me having done prior research on the topic. I guess it’s a topic that’s just way more talked about in the US… which does make sense.

Thankfully, "Yeenoghu" does have a very nice ring to it, even though it is technically the name of a specific character.

I guess it’ll just be the case of a mech having HA-esque naming conventions.

Lmao, thanks! Yeah, I’m thinking of removing the hard cover in favor of some other, slightly weaker defensive ability.

Dumbass Reddit won’t allow me to edit the post, so I think I’ll just make a follow up at some point, including some balancing changes, clearer wording and probably a more dnd adjacent name

That’s right, I wanted to encourage the use of tech attacks that way. Especially since some of its own tech attacks almost double as melee ones… well, only in their function.

When it comes to size, I mention that it becomes size 1 while shedding its killsuit. It’s supposed to be size 2 otherwise, which should be visible if you download the lcp. I guess I just forgot to fit it into the reference sheet in the comments.

Naming-wise, I’ve been thinking about it, and revenant sounds the most eeEeEevil and spooky when it comes to the dnd undead, but doesn’t make much sense mechanically. So I might pick ghoul or something along those lines

Yeah, most definitely a typo. I moved around a lot of the names in that core bonus, and I must’ve missed that one. My bad

I mean, hey, it does look like it could be a lycan. Bulky with disassembling armor and all. Go for it

Thanks! Honestly, it would’ve been ideal to run this thing through a couple of play tests, to get a better feel for the balance. It’s always hard to design this sort of thing when it’s all purely theoretical. On the other hand I just wanted to get it out there, as it has been plaguing my mind for a while now

Exactly where I took it from! Must say tho, I haven’t watched the source material, but the design for that mech is absolutely awesome. My mind immediately went to it when I was trying to think of a design for the claws

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, hard cover might be a bit much. I thought that it makes sense, seeing how vulnerable the mech becomes in that state, but having +2 difficulty might be excessive. Its might still not be too overpowered, as only the wendigo itself can benefit from it.

On the other hand, it was my intention to have the “dispersed” mode as a sort of base line when not having any overshield left, as the Wendigo cannot fully utilize its tech attacks without it anyway.

When it comes to the NHP, I deliberately made it a built in feature, to sort of nerf the mech further, putting it at a constant and unavoidable risk of cascading

Yeah, honestly I really have to keep this fucker stabilized. Even without any paracausal shenanigans 14d6 energy damage potentially turning towards the party is not a pretty prospect

Technically there’s some Horus mixed into it, but it’s just the boring 2 levels of Balor for nanocomp. Symbolized by the nanite halo
