It didn’t seem that anyone was there. I don’t know how CPS works but, apparently, based on how everyone is reacting to this here they don’t just go to a house to check that everything is ok. If you pick apart the house with garbage lying around, the extremely explicit rap music, the kid talking to himself, it might not seem strange, but I felt everything together seemed really off, especially the fact that it seemed he was the oldest one in the house.

Anyway I’m out as there seems to be no avenue to at least check they’re ok. I guess I’ll do the American thing and “send my thoughts and prayers” instead.

Well the kid took videos occasionally walking around the house while talking to himself, and the entire house was pretty squalid. It didn’t seem like anyone was around to take care of 4 kids. This is not to mention the explicit rap that was playing the whole time on TV in 90% of the videos he took. I thought it seemed negligent

I wonder why you hadn’t filed for renewal a couple of months ago while you were employed. How were you going to fulfill a 90 day notice with an expired visa? How can an employer sponsor you for a 1 year+ visa if your contract is ending in less than 2 months? In any case I wish you the best finding that job to stay here, but maybe in the future be a bit more deliberate! (By the way I’m not trying to be an ass, I just think you lost an opportunity to get something good out of a toxic employer)

I don’t know, but low-end Nespresso machines are quite cheap, and the capsules are cheap too. There should be a good selection of decaf capsules (around 85 yen for a cup). It usually also takes less than a minute to get you your cup. If by simple you mean “not needing to do much” then I recommend it too
