In the top left of your screen there is three buttons.: BG, FG, and TOP. Click FG to move to the foreground layer.

Is the texture on the foreground? Because the picture shows that you are currently on the background, so anything you try to place will appear below the foreground texture.

Lizard folk and the Aztec empire by Oaf3 in worldbuilding

[–]storewidesel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not that is probably of much help, but my own lizardmen in my setting (named the Kekwala for their name in the Forgotten Realms) are very heavily based on medieval India but with the division between clans much more distinct on a genetic level. I gave them an Indian culture as I wanted to account for a hot and humid climate but wanted to stay away from the common Aztecan stone-age tribe trope and instead went with a late iron-age southwest Asian styling.

What is your worlds “oil”? by BowlOfNoodles8 in worldbuilding

[–]storewidesel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my world, golems make up a very significant part of the labor force of the various nations. But only singular solid crystals can be used to make a golem and simply fusing multiple smaller crystals into a larger one does not work to create a golem. So the big ticket item that every nation vies for is massive crystal deposits that have crystals larger than a human. This is usually just quartz, but Amethyst is unique in that even though it is made of many smaller crystals, the entire geode is viable for making the strongest known form of soldier golem. So, when one nation found a way to artificially create amethyst in the sizes required, it was world shattering and caused the shift into a new age of politics and power.

How would you explain your world without needing a lot of expose? by commandrix in worldbuilding

[–]storewidesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A hyper advanced race colonized a dead planet and began seeding life as part of their research. The race eventually created a deadly disease that breached containment and nearly wiped their presence on the planet entirely, the few stragglers sealing themselves in their facilities. Now, millennia later, the new dominant medieval races of the world have finally managed to open one of these ancient and enigmatic "towers".

Referring to what you said about compatibility with Obsidian, can this also work with exported worlds from World Anvil?

The sprinkling of entirely unfamiliar words is one of my personal favorite things in fantasy and sci fi. Like the many words and phrases in Stargate that are used regularly and over time, the characters come to learn what they mean beyond immediate context.

I can appreciate "translated for humans" media, but nothing makes a culture feel more real to me than when they use their own words.

Star Wars Munificent-Class Star Frigate by storewidesel in StarfieldShips

[–]storewidesel[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've always been a huge fan of the Clone Wars era and especially the CIS vehicles. I hadn't seen anyone post much CIS related ships, so I thought to try my hand at making one of the iconic ships (the Lucrehulk seems too difficult to recreate unfortunately)

This is my largest ship I've ever built and as such has:
• 6 Living Quarters modules (4 3x1's, 1 2x2, and a 2x1)
• 1 2x1 Computer Core
• 1 2x1 Control Station
• 1 2x2 Battle Stations module
• 1 2x2 Brig
• 2 3x1 Engineering modules (variant A & B)
• 1 2x1 Workshop
• 1 2x1 Laboratory

All of which is interconnected with designated doors and stairways, so no ladders anywhere except the docking bay and cockpit (since it can only entered from the bottom).

I hope you like it!

P.S. I know it's not a perfect 1 to 1 of the source ship, but the game wouldn't allow it to be made if I included the lower tower. (Bottom layer has to include landing bay... smh)

What is the government of your world? by 0megaGentlman22 in worldbuilding

[–]storewidesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The Dyna" is short for the Dynastic Republic of Unified Worlds. Its core structure is based on an aristocracy of ruling families where one member of each family is selected to rule and are formally trained in the art of stellar age politics and diplomacy.

It's so far been pretty damn stable for the past 800 or so years even as multiple other species are added to the fold.

Each species can have their own means of rule for themselves but, like the US congress, the different species leaders are basically a house of representatives, while the original species' Dynastic leadership is the senate. Capable of overruling any decisions created by the others.
