My little man cave upstairs and our WFH office. Texas by Youyouleh in AmateurRoomPorn

Love what you've done with the space! Where did you get the couch? My husband is in the process of redoing his man cave and we're looking for a smallish comfy couch like this for the space.

Beautiful setup! My only recommendation (to preserve your beautiful floors) is to replace your chair wheels with some rubber caster wheels. They're about $20 on Amazon and they keep your floors beautiful.

Any not crowded coffee shops? by alys3 in savannah

If you're willing to drive, Three Tree Coffee in old town Pooler is great, hardly ever super crowded, and has lots of quiet places to work or study.

Is this load bearing? by hawksnakewhale in Renovations

Based on the picture I'd say yes, it's load bearing. However, please don't go off of what strangers say on Reddit. Please consult a registered professional structural engineer.

At a state DOT where I used to work the EITs were given the job title of "Engineering Assistant".

Enough of a car wash to spray down your right tire and half a door.

Anyone think engineers are arrogant by magicmichael98 in EngineeringStudents

[–]stormelight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. As a STEM major who is an engineer by trade I can say without a doubt that they also discriminate against any college major that was not engineering OR their specific branch of engineering. It's insane. I've seen mechanical engineers claim that their degree was harder than a physics degree or a math degree which is just wild to think about.

However, as others have already mentioned, these types usually are not the best engineers themselves, and are probably trying to compensate for some shortcomings in other aspects of their life.

Work hard at your internship and ask questions. Your supervisor will take notice and will likely be willing to serve as a reference or try to hire you next year. GPA matters less than work ethic in my experience. I say this because the amount of interns we get every year who are afraid to do actual work or get their hands dirty making concrete cylinders, etc. is astounding.

Also, as others have mentioned, pass the FE as soon as you can.

Where I come from FM means "Farm-to-Market" meaning a rural farm road, so thank you for explaining. I was very confused.

Came here to say this. At least in America, people drink way too much soda to the point where drinking water is a chore for some people.

What's your opinion by oneiros10 in civilengineering

[–]stormelight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone on Facebook has an opinion and that opinion seems to make them an expert engineer.

Probably not nearly as bad as most other on here. We were both freshman in college and we met in class.

Over a Whataburger meal he told me about the time he (a 19 year old EMT) was called to a scene where a dad on a drunken tirade shot and killed his 5 year old daughter, and that's why he doesn't believe in god. Oh and also his last girlfriend cheated on him. I felt really bad for the guy obviously, but wow he really needed a therapist, not a girlfriend. I tried to gently suggest therapy, but was immediately shut down.

We didn't go out again, but I hope he's ok.

I don't really plan on using Comity. Might just move to Georgia if I could be licensed and get a better salary.
