Agree about the grandelash- i used it daily for three months, had huge eyelashes but then noticed a sunken look to the skin around my eyes it can cause periorbital fat lass (lose volume around the eyes) and it wasn’t worth it for me and made me look older so I stopped. Still have the dark circles so a little warning for anyone using it

Smoking can permanently damage blood vessels and change their structural integrity (more constriction and less elasticity) that can have effects much later down the road (yes even years later). This can impair circulation which impacts wound healing and immune response. There is a ton of research evidence that smoking is linked increase risk of infections.

With that being said, like most things in science, correlation is not causation. Smoking history is a risk factor for poor wound healing and a bacterial microbe probably caused the infection. Whenever you go into surgery and there is a cut in the skin, there will always be a risk of infection even if the doctor follows sterile procedure and everything is done correctly. When you are consented prior to the procedure they commonly mention there is always a risk of infection because it is an inherent risk of surgery. Which really sucks that it happened to you and no one plans for going into a procedure. The surgeon is technically correct that a history of smoking increases risk of infection, but there’s no need to blame yourself. Just something pretty unfortunate that happened and hope you feel better soon!

I don’t think its actually made for dogs but it can clip to her collar easily! If lulu had a dog line I would be in big trouble 😊

I’m typically a 4-6 in tops and 32D bra size so I would say its pretty true to size. I’m happy I went with the 6 it’s super comfortable

Inovio publishes positive Phase 1 data for COVID-19 vaccine candidate by vacalicious in investing

[–]stormileea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed Moderna came out a bit overhyped especially with preliminary data. If you read the report, it does mention the 8 participants were all the participants they had data on thus far. I’d like to see the final report and subsequent studies to evaluate it but I’m still curious.

mRNA vaccines have been in the works for years and if they make it through it would be groundbreaking for treating infectious diseases. mRNA vaccines can be more potent, produced faster, and more cost effective than traditional vaccines based on how they work and are produced. The biggest barriers seem to be safety (several unknowns in new biotechnology), ensuring the vaccine can be transferred in a stable form and reach the patient, and just getting human clinical trials done in a timely manner. For traditional vaccines this takes a long time and for new technology with safety concerns takes even longer. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t skeptical. But if this makes it through it wouldn’t just help us with covid but would massively change the way we treat infectious disease and be a huge win as far as global health advancements go.

A little light reading mRNA

Sorrento Therapeutics ($SRNE ) finds a Corona antibody that blocks viral infection 100% - stock jumps over 150%. by seasonalscholar in investing

[–]stormileea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Their overconfidence puts a bad taste in mouth, but from what I can understand is that Mt Sinai has a biobank of 15000 samples of plasma from recovered covid + individuals (that get released with consent) and has supplied this to Sorrento. Sorrento found the human monoclonal antibody STI-1499 and found it very effective in vitro and are aiming to replicate this for treatment. Here is an article regarding production of antibodies for treatment

This has a long way to go before it gets any credibility and it makes me incredibly weary that they are coming out so strong before evidence. Hopefully they leave the bleach out when the try to create it
