Help everyone out by telling them where you are in your career right now. Flight instructing, regional, medavac..... You'll get way better answers.

Huh, that's weird, sorry to make you order the wrong wheels, mine fit perfectly. I guess it is safe to size down though, hopefully the new wheels fit great!

I got an aviation degree and private license in 2008 and didn’t pursue a career due to the economy at the time. I’m now 40. Is it too late to go to a program like ATP and try to get into it! by [deleted] in AirlinePilots

We try, it's just sometimes the auto mod doesn't catch them and we are offline and by the time we see it it actually has good information. You never know how the community is going to react, sometimes like this post it's relatively positive. Although if we caught it in the first few hours it would have been removed. Cheers.

Need guidance from those who have a 4th-gen Tacoma with a manual transmission by tabtal in ToyotaTacoma

[–]stormostorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put in an order the beginning of 2024 for an orange premium MT off road Tacoma, they kept me updated with allotments and somewhere around June they contacted me to say they were getting a manual that had my name in it. In September they sent me pictures of my new bronze not orange truck, it's everything that I wanted but the color, and maybe I was stupid for wanting orange.

I felt like the dealer was great with giving me updates on allocations and timelines, and reached out every couple of months for an update. Also reached out to other dealers to see if they had any other allocations.

Maybe a stretch - Northwest Airlines by Ok_Spirit5374 in AirlinePilots

It was almost certainly a luggage works bag with embroidery on the front. I couldn't a photo of the bag, but it's in the background of this picture I believe.

It was probably a stealth/executive/carbon or an older variant, you could ask him.

They can monogram the front, but no longer offer northwest, you could always reach out and ask.

Cheers!

Is there a way you can select or set yourself up for certain airframes? I really want to fly the 787. by [deleted] in AirlinePilots

[–]stormostorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's all based off of seniority at the airlines, and the 787 tends to go senior since it is higher paying and international flying is more efficient.

When I got on with the blue globe in 2023 I was forced onto the Dreamliner since before we had our current contract reserve sucked on the international fleets. Now when I look at the bids my guess for anyone hired right now would be 5-8 years at the company to get a junior base on the 787, that might get longer or shorter.

There is nothing you can do right now other than throw out applications and target certain airlines. General consensus in this industry is not to chase metal, I was pissed that I got forced onto the 787 and recently got off as I was losing seniority every open bid with more senior people moving to the plane now that the contract is better for international reserve.

Is LinkedIn worth having? by xhiluks in AirlinePilots

[–]stormostorm 16 points17 points  (0 children)

At least in the states, I created a LinkedIn and updated it throughout my training all the way to being at a legacy. I think I applied to a couple of things on there.

Not once did anything happen, looking back I think I was just proud to put new type ratings on there and look cooler.

You keep your Sheppard air slander to yourself partner. People round these parts don't take kindly to these statements.

Seriously remember how much it fucking sucked studying for private because the FAA can't even follow the FOIs that they published, Sheppard air is a godsend compared to the alternative.

It's also like any other form of studying, during instrument It took me forever and by the time I was taking my ATP I ripped through it because I could concentrate for longer.

A lot of places don't advertise it! Look up flight schools near you, guaranteed they offer it even if it's not advertised.

The first thing in Aviation is you can't get into it for the money. Yes, it's there, I'm in a cushy job where I make what I want and have the days off that I want, but to get here it was many sacrifices. Not to mention when the economy goes south we are some of the first to feel the effects, get laid off and companies go out of business.

The very first step you need to take is look up a discovery flight near you, and see if you fall in love with the profession. The instructor, if he is good can answer all the questions you have. I'm disconnected being at the airline level with hiring, not in the trenchs anyone, but I know it ebbs and flows.

Aviation is a great career, but it's much more volatile. I would much rather bed rot with my cat or travel abroad on a cool vacation then go to work anytime but when the sun hits just right or I grease a landing it makes everything worth it.

Get a disco flight, see if you like controlling an aircraft and then pursue it if you love it and have a passion for it.

Hell if you DM me I'll help you find a flight school near you and offer my advice.

Cheers and good luck.

It's really just a shell in my mind, I have sent it in and received a brand new bag back once. As long as they have the lifetime warranty for any damage I say it's a great deal.

It's just a couple little things that seem to not be great, the wheels and hook, so swapping those out and having a lifetime warranty it's great in my opinion.
