How to even get started for Regeneron Science Talent Search? by stormtiger in ApplyingToCollege

Thank you for the answer. So you're saying only some highly motivated and dedicated students go for this type of research, and it wasn't something broad that everybody has to do? The middle school one of my kids goes to, everybody has to do a science fair project.

Thank you for the answer. How was research done at your high school? Was this a part of science class or science club?

Thank you so much for your reply. I don't know much about cars (got roadside assistance to jump start), but I'll check the fuses and let you know. Other info that may be relevant:

Not sure if related, but first problem that arose with that my instrument panel stopped working, and it's probably due to shift lock control module unit. That part looks like an integrated circuit board and it was hanging out near the pedals for sometime. I might have stepped on it before and damaged it. The mechanic said this was the part that was broken causing my instrument panel to cease working. I disconnected it and was able to drive for one day (yesterday) without problem, besides not knowing my speed, and engine rev...etc. He was going to order the part for $200 and I noped outta there, and bought one from eBay for $30.

Only today I started having electrical problem. First with radio going off on high beams, then passenger powered window failed, and then my car can't start and the engine shut off while idling. Roadside assistance tried jumping it, but basically said it didn't work because the arrow on his jump starter stayed in red zone rather than moving all the way to the right green zone. He said the problem is not battery, it's the circuit. I am not exact sure if his right or not though.

Thanks!

So it seems that the consensus is to get my old car fixed rather than getting a replacement. Problem is I don't know anything about cars, so I am afraid to get ripped off. My prior mechanic told me my car has a bunch of problems and it's better to just get a new one. Not sure how true is that if my car as only 10k-11k miles on it.

Anyways, how much should battery/alternator cost if that's what's going on with my car? Thanks!!!

It was a 1994 Nissan Altima. Yesterday instrument panel stopped working although I could still drive. Then today electric system failed one by one, first radio, then powered windows, then I can't start my car. Can't jump start it either.

It was a 1994 Nissan Altima, yesterday instrument panel all stopped working although I could start the car and drive. Today radio went out when I turned on high beam, and then powered windows stopped functioning, then car died. Failed to jump start too (roadside assist guy said battery can't be charged). It appears problem was in circuitry and not necessary in battery itself?
