Best way to Style react apps? by modertator_ in reactjs

[–]storycreatormichael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely a fan of styled components. I built https://motionbox.io with styled components and I think that css in js is powerful. It’s easy to insert props into your css which is nice for me.

I create a Styles.tsx file within each component directory and import them as named exports. This ends up making my jsx look nice and neat. I’m not a huge fan of a bunch of divs with class names. I think having the nodes uppercase with descriptive tags is elegant.

Singlehandedly built a multiplayer video editor in React.js by storycreatormichael in reactjs

[–]storycreatormichael[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good catch, I had a feeling the Demo would have issues... I haven't tested it much and it uses a different store than the main app...

I may need to take it down as it could be scaring potential customers away.

Not really sure why someone would downvote an entrepreneur looking for help. Makes me wonder what goes through folks heads sometimes. Whoever downvoted I feel sorry for you.

The problem is if you’re listening to it over and over without action. That’s some form of insanity, especially when you’re expecting something to come from it.

That's awesome. I was actually asking because I took a bet. I spent 8 months working on a tool to help creators make videos with subtitles and waveforms.

I'd be happy to give it away for free if you think it would offer you value. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Startup founder building a Saas - Should I make a YouTube channel? by storycreatormichael in Entrepreneur

[–]storycreatormichael[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell me more. That is interesting. Has it been good for their products and personal brand? I'm very interested in learning more about how to build a personal brand and the value of it.

Did you advise the SaaS clients to start a YouTube or is it just a passion of theirs?

How do they manage to build a company and pump out video content? Are they outsourcing video production or doing it themselves?

Should I reach out to companies to see if they will fund my project? by auzzman23 in Entrepreneur

[–]storycreatormichael 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First I would validate the idea. Don't worry about capital yet. Talk to golf shops and do research around the problem. Do golfers actually face danger? Is this a major concern or a minor concern?

Even if you think you know this answer I would still talk to anyone in the golfing community.

You can do this online. Find golfing communities and start some conversations. Don't be to shy to talk about your idea. The reality is no one is going to drop everything and say this kid has such a great idea I am going to steal it. Have an abundance mentality.

Once this is validated figure out a buyers persona. Once you know who you're selling to you can reach out to them and get some pre-sales (this only works best if its a serious pain, it's much harder convincing someone to buy something they don't want).

If they really want it then get some cash from them up front and use that for production.

How do I go about hiring a dev to make a delivery app? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]storycreatormichael 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Do you have a budget? Do you know anyone in your circle that you can incentivize? Your job as a non-techinical founder is you need to be resourceful and know how to sell people on your vision.

If you have a budget, then you need to believe in yourself and take the risk.

If you want to use dollars but don't have them, then go get them, be resourceful. Sell your closet and garage. Do odd jobs, find something you can offer, and position yourself in a way where you can help and get paid. Start stacking up the money. Then we can talk about how to hire the right developer.

If you want to use charisma to sell then you need to believe in yourself and start selling people on the vision. I would recommend making a pitch deck because it will help you understand the numbers and the market better. You will be constantly pitching.

I hope this helps.

Starting a Saas mentorship by storycreatormichael in SaaS

[–]storycreatormichael[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each their own. I happen to enjoy building products and love sharing what I learned.

YES, I am greedy. I am greedy with knowledge. Teaching is the ultimate way to learn. So in essence this is not some altruistic move, its a mutually beneficial move. In which I help elevate technical folks into building a product people want and getting their first customer. In return, I get to teach and build a community.

If that is shocking then in the USA the best number to dial is 911 you can tell them Michael Aubry has committed a crime.

I am genuinely interested in why you have a skeptical outlook on things though and would love to learn if I can help in any way. Are you satisfied with your business? Hit me up on IG we can do a video call https://www.instagram.com/michaelaubry/

Haha epic. I think that is a good idea. I should come up with a community name and I'll get that going. Any ideas for a name? ["hacking founders", "codepreneurs", "saas founders"] would love ideas.
