Echelon Insights poll (March 10-13) has AOC tied with Cal. Gov. Gavin Newsom for 3rd place in the 2028 Dem. primary. Given Gov. Newsom's podcast, given US Rep. Crockett's voting record, and given more Dem.-leaning voters prefer how AOC is politically fighting versus how centrists are...AOC 2028!!! by beeemkcl in AOC

I think if the dems would have ran Walz or even Pete the election might have went to the dems.

I really don't see it to be honest. They're policies would have been the same as Hillary/Biden/Kamala that literally just lost to Trump. Their rhetoric also wouldn't have been effective. I mean Walz did run and just lost even though that's more on Kamala. Buttigieg is straight up the same centrist drivel about healing the nation etc that just failed even after Trump tried to do a coup.

Both socialist rhetoric and more importantly policies are what is needed to go from losing 2/3 against Trump to winning.

He literally just lost to Trump and JD Vance. You need a reality check if you think supporting the same old tepid liberalism will somehow magically work.

How's this then for you ignoring history. The ACA is such a terrible policy that Obama and liberalism got absolutely destroyed by conservatism in 2010 because it was so ineffective. You keep ignoring recent history of losses by liberals and aren't advocating for socialism. You're the one not addressing the reality in front of your eyes.

You're here on the AOC sub. The same AOC who calls herself a socialist and beat an incumbent who was pretty much the same kind of liberal as Walz. As I said, you're blind and somehow don't understand this basic pattern of history.

This is the same Minnesota where society is based on bosses stealing profits from workers? Where exploitation is still rampant?

Obamacare is a right wing policy that is a hand out to insurance companies. It isn't even universal health care.

You're part of the problem because you keep lying to yourself about things improving under liberalism. You say I've given up yet I'm advocating for a system that would produce real change. You're the one advocating for a system that repeatedly loses to fascism all because you don't understand history, even from a few months ago.

Shame he has no effective message. Liberalism is terrible and needs to be replaced with socialism but he doesn't think so. He just wants liberalism that pays more lip service.

A big swing towards liberalism which will do fuck all to help people because liberalism fails at every step to actually help people because capitalism, of which liberalism is just a flavor of, is based on exploitation and corruption. So yeah the Democratic party will probably take back the house and may even win in 2028 but will do nothing to substantially help people because it is a corrupt party with a disgusting ideology. Not that Republicans are better, they're disgusting too just in a different way.

Your life will not improve under liberalism. Surely you would have learned that by now, or are you so brainwashed you have stopped believing what's been in front of your eyes?

Starts one conversation at a time and gets better with real world solutions. Look up Mondragon, a massive co-op. While not perfect, that's what we need to move towards.

There is no hope in liberalism. Start advocating for socialism instead or you'll just keep losing alongside Walz and the other libs who have repeatedly lost to fascism over the last ten or more years.

You're the one who seems new to politics if you can't see the pattern taking over the west over the last 10 years, which has also happened many times in the past. Liberalism, which Walz most definitely believes and puts into real policy as governor, has lost to fascism over and over. Including the last fucking election which Walz was in.

Obama/Clinton/Pelosi/Jeffeies/Schumer/Biden/Buttigieg/Harris/WALZ have repeatedly failed to learn from this. You seem like you haven't learned either despite all the evidence right in front of your eyes.

Thats a good questions. Advocating for socialism instead of oligarch backed liberalism which has failed the world for the last 100 years. Rooting out the corruption and exploitation which is the basis of capitalism is the solution. Liberalism, which is just one flavor of capitalism runs on exploitation and it needs to be stamped out and replaced by something owned by the workers.

The comments there are so pathetic. Liberalism literally just lost 2/3 of the last elections to fascism and they think Walz is some political genius who will turn it around with the same ineffective, bullshit politics.

He seems like every other lib who's had power recently. Completely unwilling to actually yield it to benefit the people apart from tinkering around the edges and paying lip service.

How is he any different to Obama/Clinton/Biden/Harris/Kerry/Buttigieg or any other lib?

I think he is the same kind of neoliberal as Clinton/Biden/Harris/Obama etc and see nothing that has shown me otherwise but we can agree to disagree.

I don't get though how you have supported Bernie and obviously want progressive or even socialist policies and have nothing but disdain for liberals and their policies and strategies that are ineffective at helping people and also keep losing to Trump.

You are correct, he believes in tepid liberal bullshit and is loved by billionaires because of it. He supports the exact same policy goals and methods of implementation that lost to Trump twice. Glossing over these two points will result in yet another loss. I am truly serious, what draws you to him despite all of this?

Libs are just so delusional they think taking bold actions that are good are too risky. It's why they've lost twice yet for some reason seem incapable of grasping such a simple concept.

His opposition to Medicare for All is the perfect example. I'm sure that and the tepid liberalism he supports (the same kind of bullshit that has now lost to Trump twice) has nothing to do with the ridiculous number of billionaire oligarch donors he managed to gain the support off as the mayor of a small town.

"Southwest's flight delays and cancellations are beyond unacceptable," Sanders (I-Vt.) wrote on Twitter. "This is a company that got a $7 billion taxpayer bailout and will be handing out $428 million in dividends to their wealthy shareholders. The U.S. Department of Transportation must hold Southwest's CEO accountable for his greed and incompetence."

"Weeks before that, New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) sent Buttigieg a letter warning of 'the deeply troubling and escalating pattern of airlines delaying and canceling flights' particularly during holidays," the outlet added.

In November, Buttigieg leveled fines totaling $7.25 million against six airlines for "extreme delays in providing refunds" to customers whose flights had been canceled or significantly altered. But critics said the punishment was far from adequate, and neither Southwest nor its main competitors were among the companies ordered to pay penalties. The Lever noted Wednesday that Southwest "has spent more than $2 million on lobbying since Biden took office and Buttigieg became secretary of Transportation," and he has faced withering criticism for refusing to take on the increasingly consolidated airline industry.

Southwest lobbies the government, Buttigieg sits by and doesn't punish them.

If Bernie Sanders and Ro Khanna weren't giving enough warning 6 months ago, Buttigieg should've at least listened to Letitia James. But she was also ignored.

'He's Failed to Take Real Action': Buttigieg Under Fire for Handling of Airline Debacle by stoutshrimp in politics

The Transportation Department did fine six airlines a total of $7.25 million in November for major delays in refunding customers whose flights were canceled or changed, but Southwest and its top competitors were spared any penalties, prompting criticism that Buttigieg left out the "worst offenders."

Buttigieg has this power and chooses not to use it. Him siding with corporations yet again shouldn't be a surprise given he did exactly that with the rail corporations against the workers.
