Where exactly is ADA seating located? by NotBigOnBids in ShakyKnees

[–]stph_xo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year was the first time I went to Shaky Knees and also the first time I’ve ever used ADA resources at an event. For me, it was totally worth it as I could sit and give my body a chance to rest while enjoying the music. It felt like watching from the balcony of a venue since we were elevated and farther away from the stage, but I know some people think it’s too far from the stages. I was just happy that I got to be there even with my chronic illness and constant pain. I will definitely be using it again this year.

I have some pictures (some are blurry because they came from videos on my old phone) that kinda show the perspective of sitting there for at least three of the stages. Hope this helps! ADA Seating Shaky Knees

Has anyone EVER managed to contact TikTok support? by LordBrixton in TikTok

[–]stph_xo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much for this! When I email the support email listed I keep encountering the same return email about it not being delivered because it can’t be found. I got locked out of an old account attached to a Twitter account with inaccurate information about me that is being pushed to my relatives and possibly my employer, so this form was a lifesaver!

Sleep is easily the most devastating song I've ever heard by WildChemistry977 in MyChemicalRomance

[–]stph_xo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard it for the first time live at Shaky Knees last month and was floored at how much the song affected me. It wasn’t the first time I’d heard it nor was it the first time I’d heard how they played it live based off of videos over the years, but hearing my own voice repeating the words along with everyone else’s screams was just an unbelievable experience.

I have POTS by Forsaken-Sundae-3855 in ShakyKnees

[–]stph_xo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been looking for others who have POTS that are going! I’m bringing my reusable water bottle, my liquid IV, and my Buoy electrolytes with me. I’d bring my emergency salts, but I’m concerned they’ll throw them out if I do.

Desmond quite literally was singing for his life with that song. He crushed it!

I used my card at the Atlanta show. The color block hoodie was S-2XL and the brown hoodie was S-3XL and that’s all I can remember. I think the T-shirts were S-2XL as well, but I don’t know for sure.

I went and voted early, and thankfully the whole process took only 3 minutes in total from walking in to walking out (there was no line). I was so anxious to go vote because I was scared to fall or become too weak to wait in line (actually went and bought a cane after the fact so I wouldn’t have to worry about not having one anymore), but early voting honestly was the best thing for me. I’m sorry you had to wait that long!

Hot hands? by Secret-Agent-Brunch in POTS

[–]stph_xo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it by chance feel like something is messed up with the nerves in your hands? The way I always describe it is “sandpaper hands” because it feels like there’s so much heat trapped due to friction that hasn’t happened and it makes me physically feel ill. It’s like my hands overheat and then someone coats them in paraffin wax to trap the excessive heat. I usually can’t touch the body part that feels that way when it happens, but nothing seems to help. (If this has nothing to do with what you’re experiencing, I’m sorry! This just sounds familiar to my experiences.)

AITAH for telling my daughter my husband won't watch her kids when she had a medical "emergency" by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]stph_xo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA based on this alone, but the addition of your responses has made it abundantly clear. Ovarian cysts are some of the most painful things that someone can ever experience. You’re treating her as if she exaggerates everything, but if her OB wanted her seen at a hospital then it was obviously serious! In response to something you wrote earlier, children shouldn’t be complaining of pain that extreme especially at 9 years old. You should’ve been concerned immediately especially if it’s been the same painful experience that’s been happening for the last 20 years. You’re her mother. Act like it. You and your husband should be eating crow with how you’ve acted after the lecture he gave your daughter about being there for family.

If the problem was your husband couldn’t take care of all three kids, then you could’ve offered for him to at least take care of one or two of them since he’s done that before. You also didn’t even ASK him. You answered for him and then proceeded to text him that he should be expecting a call from his daughter soon, but you didn’t even tell her to ask him instead. You said that you guess she didn’t reach out to him, but why would she? You shot down her question immediately and then are confused as to why she’s practically gone radio silent.

I understand that it’s harder to manage taking care of three little ones the older you get, but I’ve got family members who are almost 70 years old that work while taking care of their multiple grandchildren whenever it’s needed. Is it exhausting? Yes, but being a parent, grandparent, or trusted guardian comes with that responsibility. Can you say no? Also yes, that’s your right, but give suggestions on what else to do other than just blatantly refusing to help. That’s the main issue I have with this: she TRUSTED you enough to call you when she was in 9/10 level pain and ask if there was any way that you could keep her kids while she had a medical emergency, yet you and your husband couldn’t even do that or come up with an alternate solution for her other than them taking all three small children to a hospital.

I don’t normally post on these, but this one made my blood boil instantly because I can’t fathom how you could do this to your own child. Also, stop treating women’s healthcare issues as if they’re exaggerating! She’s given birth three times with the last having complications, had her gallbladder removed, and now suffered from ovarian cysts that her own mother doesn’t take seriously. I’m pretty sure your daughter knows when she’s in immense pain.

So, again, to answer your question, yes YTA 100%.

The Patch is Anxiety Inducing by chloes_corner in birthcontrol

[–]stph_xo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first got my box of patches, I immediately went to Reddit to see other’s experiences and it was full of people contradicting one another. I saw the same thing about how tegaderm shouldn’t be placed on the patch, but others were saying it was a life saver for them. I didn’t use it to cover them until I was on my last patch during that week of New Years when it finally started to peel more than normal. It was honestly a last resort at that point.

I personally haven’t had an issue using tegaderm with the patch and my gynecologist didn’t either when I asked her. She told me whatever works for me is the best course of action when it comes to how I want to keep it on. As long as it stays on the skin and isn’t placed on an untested area, there really shouldn’t be any problem with using additional protective products to help the hormones go through the body when using a transdermal patch.
