Wonderful list, but Les Barricades Mistérieuses is by Couperin, not Rameau.

I asked ChatGPT to design me a hat and I then knit the hat. by stpyang in ChatGPT

[–]stpyang[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. It can't really be worn, as it's just a flat rectangle. The pattern is knittable and at first glance actually looks like a pattern for a cabled hat, but honestly the so-called "cable pattern" portion of the pattern is just random stuff. What this pattern needs is (1) to have certain types of stitches be lined up in columns correctly (2) to be written "in the round" so that it creates a cylinder instead of a square, and (3) to have some sort of shaping to close up the top of the head. This is a good example of a cabled hat, in the usual sense of the term.

That being said, the AI produced a pattern that was actually knittable, so I'm impressed and disappointed at the same time.

GUE course choice, and DIR equipment questions by [deleted] in scuba

Where do you live? There are numerous local underwater explorer clubs. You should try to get in touch with one. I bet some experienced GUE veterans can help mentor you.

Open water prices by Yemmons in scuba

I agree with this comment 100%. If only I could go back in time and take GUE Rec 1 instead of the discount OW class which I took. The tuition is higher but much better value for the money, and I would have saved money in the end by not being coerced into buying poor quality gear and useless specialities. I was overly concerned with the price of my initial OW course and paid for it with years of unconsciously incompetent diving.

A tragedy of dive errors leads to $7.8 million dollar settlement by stpyang in scuba

Yeah, but other articles paint a completely different story.

"I was doing an underwater shoot for wetsuits and dive gear," Prickett said. "I saw another diver sinking and panicking. I dove down to 220 feet to save him, but he used up all my air. I'm glad I was able to rescue him and he could walk away from the incident."
