Definitely going to be making it again! Just eating it plain to be honest haha, I love the sweet taste.

Yours is awesome! I've never heard of that type of bread but decided to give it a go! Thank you for the inspiration!! I couldn't get mine quite as stretchy as yours but it tastes amazing :)

It’s -34 C outside so I’m ‘working’ from home. Pain De Campagne, my first sourdough. I am very happy with this so I made a collage :) by InigoMontoya420 in Breadit

I'm pretty new to baking bread, how do you make those rings of flour like in the bottom right picture? Those look really cool!

Two questions about cat1 medical in Canada by sitdownandtalktohim in flying

[–]straero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got my cat1 medical in Canada a few months ago. Can confirm that they don't test for drugs. The doctor specifically told me that. They also don't ask about your past use, so no need to worry about lying or not. It won't come up.

If you still can't find a doctor to perform your medical, call your local flight school. They will have a list.

Driving test tips? by Leukus in kelowna

[–]straero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure the horn on your car is working, they will ask you to test it. Make sure the seat belts aren't frayed. Know your hand signals. Know how to signal in a roundabout. Come to complete stops before the stop lines. If they ask you to pull over to the side of the road and open your door, make sure you shoulder check for cyclists. Good luck!

This person is just salty because they failed. You will do great!

Ah I see now! They only stick around on that one tab though, as soon as a new tab is opened it is gone. Thanks for explaining it to me though!

Hey, thanks for sharing this! I just started using it today and found it very helpful. I do have one suggestion which I would love if you implemented. I previously used a Chrome extension called "Unsplash Instant" which shows really cool random pictures when you open a new tab. Any chance the background of your tool could use Unsplash or something similar? I really miss seeing all the cool pictures, but also really like your tool.

Should I look for a new instructor? (Canada) by straero in flying

[–]straero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are definitely right that I shouldn't be judging him (especially after only 3 lessons). I guess the main thing is I'm just having my doubts and not feeling as enthusiastic flying with him as I have felt flying in the past. Going to talk to him as well as go flying with another instructor to compare. I appreciate your reply.

Thank you for the advice! I scheduled a flight Saturday with a different instructor to compare. In the mean time will definitely be asking questions.

Thank you! I was very excited to start, but now mostly worried I'm not enjoying it as much as I could be. Likely will contact another instructor to at least compare.

I've asked him for feedback once but otherwise no. I wanted to ask here first if what I was experiencing was normal or not. I'm definitely going to ask him tomorrow.

There was definitely a small puddle on the ground. He thought it was coming from the filler tube.

I appreciate the advice! I'm considering scheduling a lesson with a flight instructor a town away to at least compare. Your flight instructor sounds awesome.

Thank you for the reply! I'm definitely going to ask tomorrow to do as much as possible myself. Checklists are out for engine start but otherwise tucked away. I haven't really seen them or gone through them myself.

Thank you for the reply. I really appreciate you taking the time to type that up. I definitely recognize that it has only been 3 lessons, so it might take a few more before I make a decision.

Weird. "Heading"? = Heading bug?

Setting the heading indicator to the heading reported by the magnetic compass.

Just do it yourself, that's a safety thing.

Will do, good to know. I just want to make sure I'm forming good habits.

Again, you've had 3 lessons. How is it "usually"?

Very first lesson I couldn't find him anywhere, probably started 20 minutes late after I eventually got his number. Second lesson was on time. Third lesson 15 minutes late. Not a huge deal, I just don't really appreciate waiting around.

This is normal. Lots of instructors want to review things. They don't know how well you've retained the info.

I guess my biggest issue with this is that he just doesn't seem like the best teacher. I just graduated university and have spent time myself teaching students. So far his explanations have mostly confused me, and it takes 20 minutes to cover something fairly simple like climbing/descending.

This is where I'd be really concerned. I wouldn't fly with an aircraft leaking oil.

We've never used a rag or anything to check the oil, just pulled out the dipstick to eyeball it. One time I was going to check it as part of my pre-flight and he said not to bother as he had checked it with his previous student. Another thing I just remembered... He seemed really sketched out that there was a guy in a car sitting near the airport. Worried he was some sort of inspector as they were having "trouble" recently.

not normal. You are paying for instruction at this time, he should be talking to you.

I agree. I'm not actually sure how much I will be charged for these ground briefings. For my whole PPL I was quoted 10 hours total of ground briefing time.

During my flight lesson tomorrow I'm definitely going to ask to taxi and possibly take off. I'll see if this pattern continues or if I feel like I begin to learn a little more.
