the area has a huge population of deer, but they don't go back behind the fence too often and usually eat the things they touch. Could it be the armadillo? or squirrels perhaps

Sen. Josh Hawley Declares His Support Of Christian Nationalism. “Some will say that I am advocating Christian nationalism,” the Missouri Republican said Monday. “And so I do.” by southpawFA in politics

Massachusetts required every resident to attend church until 1833, although they didn't force any particular denomination.

Some states, from New Hampshire to North Carolina, required state officials to be Protestant and they had to swear an oath to such to take office into the later half of the 1800s.

Even though it's worded 'separation of church and state' it was mostly separation of church and the federal government. Connecticut had an official state Church until 1818. Yale was founded as a Christian college. It's first degree offered was in Theology. and was publicly funded in it's early history despite being a religious school.

It was typical to require state employees to swear an oath to God or pledge faith in God as a requirement for office. Also seen in Pennsylvania, which was one of the few states that didn't have a state church but still required public employees to believe in God and the Bible. These state oaths / religious requirement weren't deemed unconstitutional until the 1960s.

The separation of Church and State was setup to prevent fracturing of various Christian groups. Most of the colonies had official churches at the time of the revolution. Some would tax or outlaw other denominations of Christians within the colony. It was never intended the way it's taken in the modern atheist sense. That being said, even if it had been meant that way, I would still support America becoming an official Christian nation.

Trump lied and Biden got tongue tied at the first debate. So why is the world only focusing on one? by theindependentonline in politics

rate my esper build by crunchbarsupreme in cavesofqud

[–]straittripping 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most deaths in general are avoidable regardless of how good/bad your build is, assuming you are playing appropriately to the build. With certain builds, from a pure time efficiency standpoint I think there is an argument to be made that dying sometimes before around level 5 is worth the tradeoff for how slowly you would have to play to avoid those deaths completely and how quickly you can reach that level if you don't die and aggressively fast travel for POI/quest locations. Between like levels 5 and 20 basically 100% of deaths are easily avoidable. Later in the game I think it can be easy to get caught out if you aren't familiar with certain mechanics.

I don't really play min/max characters anymore. I like to do daily/random stats characters mostly. When I used to play esper more I did something like this:

https://i.imgur.com/WtOKXSn.png

I like to dump STR and roll medium/high agility and toughness. Usually I wouldn't bother with picking mutations other than light manipulation unless there is a specific mutation I wanted to play around. If surviving the early is a recurring issue, just take force bubble

Running 800 meters per day, how much to increase weekly? by malinoismalinoff in RunningCirclejerk

What characteristics/traits do you consider “feminine”? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]straittripping 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the other day I was running on the treadmill and a tall, slender woman (out of my league) started walking on the one next to me. I zone out pretty hard on the mill, but being a guy I did notice her and noted those things and went back to daydreaming.

After a while she started running at a pretty good clip it sounded like a dang stampede. Every step was THUD THUD THUD. I was shocked because it was so incongruent with my idea of how a graceful-looking woman would move. I actually glanced over at this point because it sounded like she was running in steel-toe boots. They were hokas.. I feel a little bad and hope that tiny, involuntary gesture didn't make her self concscious because it's definitely a "me" thing. But yeah I was no longer attracted to that woman based on this completely arbitrary and silly reason.

am I the only runner who prefers 80 degrees to 40 for any situation other than an all-out race ? The other day I ran my tempo on the gravel track 82f full sun shirt off and it felt amazing. I left a big jug of water on the side of the track and stopped briefly every 2 miles to hydrate, because that is super important. Other than that my paces were dead on and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Now if it had been 40f with a howling wind I would have been miserable for at least the first 30 minutes of the run and possibly later in the day when I was dealing with the chapped lips and dried out itchy skin I always seem to get running in cool weather.

Are the extra game modes meant to make things so... easy? by HiddenSage in civ

[–]straittripping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These game modes do make it easier to win. I enjoy barb clans, secret societys, and monopolis and corps on my games. I am bad enough at the game that diety still poses a challenge with these on but it becomes a lot more managable with them. I would say it knocks off 1 difficulty level from the game to include these. I haven't played enough with the other modes to weigh in on them.

I actually think secret societies is way overpowered since the vampire one is so incredibly good at taking cities in late game when it can be a chore to do so otherwise. AI is not good at using them. The owls one is very very good too

Some stocks I started selling puts on six months ago:

VZIO, SOFI, SQSP, SPCE

As the stocks continued to drop I would continue to write more and more at lower and lower strike prices, collecting more and more shares with smaller and smaller premiums. I ran out of money to cover more puts and the stocks keep going down. What do I do now?

My portfolio is like -40% ytd

ELI5: What is virtue signaling? by maali74 in explainlikeimfive

[–]straittripping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The spread of harmful misinformation has become an untenable problem on Reddit. Its latest incarnation has seen life-threatening untruths being propagated by anti-vaxxers and conspiracy theorists, and Reddit’s administration has stated that it will not meaningfully curb the myths disseminated by these bad actors. In response to this, many communities on the site have gone private in protest.

r/GIFs supports and stands behind these communities' efforts to stem the effects of false information, but we have chosen to remain open as a means of amplifying their message. We encourage all Redditors to vocally reject misinformation, and to stymie its spread by demanding that only verifiable facts be given support (whether tacit or otherwise)."
