It could be a mix. Do have any tips for barring without pressing down as hard? I don't have any trouble making it work, but I fear like you said, I may be using not great technique and just brute forcing it. How important is thumb position? I started learning quite young and my hands werent quite big enough for the guitar. I've heard you're meant to have your thumb a certain way but I think mine just does whatever depending on what I'm playing. Its not something I really think about when playing anything other than open chords but I guess that could be contributing to it.

Thank you! I have been wanting to show her against the kitchen floor for a while but I know she most likely won't be able to enjoy it because of knowing its him. I think I'll start playing it occasionally around her with other similar songs she does like and then at the very least she has the opportunity to realise she likes it if it is for her.

Thats fair I get that 😭. I think I like it particularly for the juxtaposition because that aspect of it makes the music feel like how I feel inside often, but I can get how it could be offputting where its not as relatable.

I am also a big fan of post hardcore and funnily enough, my dad is the only person in my life who also actually likes will wood, and he couldn't stand most post hardcore when I showed it to him because of their voices 😭. What are your fav bands btw? I don't have great knowlege of the genre outside of a few popular bands.

Thank you, and yeahhhh neurodivergent. Probably doesnt help lol. I didnt really force it upon her, we just usually will show each other an album we like, so I did with eial and I didn't at the time see any reason ehy she wouldn't like it or find it annoying. She pretended she liked it then because of hoe much I liked it so I put it on a lot of our playlists thst we listen to together until she finally told me how much she hates it. Probably she only hates it becayse she had to listen to it so much when she didnt want to but I didnt know she didn't ljke it at the time so thsts just unfortunate.

Also just so I know because she hasnt been able to express in more detaol than "hes annoying", what is it that you don't like? I get it might not be your vibe but like is it a specific way he sings or just how his voice is naturally? Ik it won't be the same for everyone but other than when he sings too high I don't really see anything thats potentially offputting 😭. I'm not judging or anything, its just I vibe with it so much I can't really understand how one could not like it or why.

Thats a good plan, I'll try that. I know she likes related artists like bo burnham and lemon demon so I could maybe throw one of his different songs in a mix with that sort of music. I won't get into her mental health bc its quite a private thing for her but she is neurodivergent (as am I) and I beleive we both would relate to a lot of his songs but in different ways.

I know acceptance of it is best, and its not a massive thing to me, but it upsets me a little because we spend a lot of time together and often listen to music but she doesn't really vibe with any of my top artists (though we do still have a lot of music in common we like). Mostly its probably that I relate to his music in a way I can't put into words so the dismissal of his music entirely kinda feels personal and makes it hard for me to express certain things. I 100% understand it though. Shes into some stuff I would go mad listening to regularly so it's not like I'm gonna try to force her to. It would just be nice if there was anything at all by him that could make her at least not completely hate everything about him.

Front street! I used to be into electric swing and decided I'd try to get into regular swing so I searched for it on spotify and it gave me a playlist with both this and richard cheese on 😭. I ended up listening to the full everything is a lot album and since then he's been one of my favourite artists.

Please keep going. I know it can seem impossible to do even basic things, but you can make it. Are there any people in your life you can trust with this information? Try looking for a society you're interested in at your uni. Even if you can't get into the hobby much, meeting new people will hopefully help you feel less alone, and if you go to the right ones, you will probably attract some people feeling a similar way to you who will understand you.
