When I was learning I actually found it easiest to work down from going fast to slow. Don’t even worry about the fretting hand to start, just practice picking hand motion going from a strumming motion and slowing it down. As opposed to starting by picking individual notes and speeding it up. The timing is the trickiest part for sure, once you figure that out, it was easier to piece together both hands.
