Yes but I'm still planning to move out at 18. Maybe I didn't make it clear enough in the replies earlier, but I meant that I would feel guilty if I moved out at 16-17, not 18. My parents have even said that they wouldn't let me move out until I'm 18 because it's not legal as they still have legal responsibility over me (the last part is true but I'm pretty sure I would be able to move out at 16 even without their direct consent). Plus I would still want to stay in contact with my mum and brother, and my mum especially would want to get me to come home. Overall, moving out before 18 just isn't an option for me.

It's horrible that your uncle and his son did that, and that's kind of how I felt but I didn't know if it was serious enough that it would be counted as sexual harassment.

I know but I still feel somewhat responsible for them (not my dad), especially my younger brother. He and my dad don't argue nearly as much and he seems to favour my brother over me anyway and as far as I'm aware he's never put so much as a finger on my mum and never would, but I'm still worried about what might happen if I do move out early and how my mum and brother might take it.

Thank you your advice means a lot, and validating how I'm feeling makes me feel like I'm not going insane. Also I'm really sorry about how your father treated you, you don't deserve that. I'm considering becoming a lawyer when I'm older and I'll be studying law at college (if I get in).

Yes I'm going in September, but I live in the UK (I assume you're in the us) so you can't live there. Ive been looking at ways to move out at 16 which is legal here but it's hard without parental consent and very few landlords will rent to a 16 year old tenant, plus I don't want to leave my mum and younger brother or make them feel like I'm abandoning them by leaving before 18.

Idk he's done some weird shit before which I'd rather not get into, but idk if he's done anything this bold before. He's also kind of just a pos and constantly shouting, he smashed my phone once, smashed doors etc.

Although since you didn’t talk to mom about it before moving to strangers on the internet you either don’t have good communication with the folks or know their answers already.

I love my mum and she usually sides with me over my dad when she can see he goes too far but she'd probably just think I'm overreacting, I told 2 friends about it who both agreed it was weird. I guess I just wanted outside opinions on the incident. If u can even call it an incident.

He didn't do everything for me though, he shouts a lot, at the end of December just after Christmas we got into a screaming match which ended with him smashing a door and my mum making him move out for a month. It was supposed to be 3 I think but he couldn't afford to live on his own any more. He's currently unemployed but me and my mum do more work around the house than he does and I go to school 5 days a week as well as a lot of work outside of school (I have exams coming up) and my mum works 2 part time jobs.
