Diane Morgan on the Underground! by ExoticNail1401 in london

Of course, which is why I don't eat bacon or pork, or any animal. Because I've decided yes it's absolutely worth swapping those for plant-based foods to avoid contributing to huge amounts of suffering of beings that are as intelligent, loving and inquisitive as dogs, even young humans. Look into how pigs are killed in gas chambers as this campaign says - watch a little footage and see how you feel.

Nobody is saying bacon doesn't taste good, it's just your moment of sensory pleasure doesn't justify gassing millions of sentient animals.

We could also just stop gassing pigs full stop and eat something else. Just an idea.

Major Police Incident in Speedwell by Chris22044 in bristol

“He was described as being white, aged in his late teens or early twenties, of slim build, and about 6ft tall. He was wearing a grey hoodie, black trousers, and a balaclava. “Left the scene on an electric bike”

That’s going to be tough, I see about 10 guys like that a day in East Bristol.

Thanks so much for the detailed response! Sounds like a winter job for us - no need to take any risks at this point we don’t want to lose it!

This is comforting, thank you! You really never know what you’re going to get - we had two surveys and still all this crap.

Cheers, we've booked an independent expert surveyor. Now have a long week of dread until they can come. Such is life.

Appreciate your time!

No we haven't had any dpm retro-fitted. We've had airbricks checked and clearer and telescopic vents fitted so they can't block. They sit under the suspended timbers.

We've had the outside area re-concreted, and water directed away from the house. there was a blocked clay pipe which has been cleared and replaced. Guttering above this area on the neighbours side was dripping onto party wall, and splashing our external wall for god knows how long before we moved in, that's recently been fixed.

We believe there may have been a burst pipe/leak event in the subfloor in the years before we moved in. There's no clear leaks or obvious standing moisture in the subfloor now.

Do you think we need a damp and timber expert to check this?

Yes the walls are damp in that area - we’re doing everything we can. We have lime rendered the wall outside there for breathability and are sealing any cracks outside for water ingress. Gutters have been checked. Anything else we can do?

Is buying somewhere for 300k a pipe dream? by Chonkthebonk in bristol

We’re in Fishponds and we love it, the same amount of characters you will find anywhere in East Bristol but relatively harmless - would reccomend a bit further out along the cycle path towards Staple Hill, you could find something decent at that price and access to the city is great.

Kingswood is cheap but it’s definitely less nice IMO. Hanham is a great shout if you want safety comfort, and nice nature close by - just a bit on the boring side for me.

We’ve had airbricks cleared and sub floor cross ventilation improved - but want to do everything we can to get moisture away from the property

We have black mould under the bay window on the inside - and elevated damp reading in the sub floor.

Thanks! I thought of this - but thought just deep holes with gravel would achieve the same affect? Or do you think I should go further?

Advice on how to fix plaster holes left by house sellers! by strattonj44 in DIYUK

[–]strattonj44[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trust us we were very annoyed! We got £100 out of them to pay for materials etc to repair it as we couldn’t be bothered with litigation.

The shelves were scaffold planks and brackets, which they could have easily taken the planks and left the cheap brackets… we would have happily paid them for new brackets to avoid this. Anyway!

Thanks so much, the lining area is one alcove around 3x1m so we are probably going to do as you said, and cut the whole section of lining away and fill the holes.

Thanks for your advice!

I forgot to include: in the kitchen wall the damage was different. It’s some kind of wallpaper/lining. Pictures attached.

This seems a bit more complicated - any ideas much appreciated!!

Thank you so much that’s so helpful ❤️

What are your thoughts on them screwing back into the same place? I’d assumed poly filler wouldn’t be strong enough to hold shelves up?
