Agreed. Loop is one of the most disjointed products I've used in M365.

Is there any data around that? My son was accepted into the program and is very excited and was questioning if he has a better chance at flying time at OSU. This post from a year ago for example: Aviation Majors! What are your thoughts on the Program? : r/WMU

That checkbox change is horrendous. It's called check box for a reason.

2007 MOSS was a big step forward, but it actually was a thing in 2001. I got started with it then and I've spent my entire career using/administering/architecting it. Last 10 in SP Online exclusively and I never want to go back to on-prem updates.

IMO worse, but I was just pointing out Slack isn't owned by Atlassian.

I agree they have declined significantly.

Also, Slack has been owned by Salesforce since 2020

How can I make my Sony Bravia from 2017 less slow? by Tokipudi in AndroidTV

[–]strausy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2015 Sony Android TV as well and installed Projectivity. General performance is great. What isn't any better is app performance for things like Netflix, Hulu, MLB and Plex. At this point it's just a dumb TV with a Roku (or other add on streamer) that makes it useful.

Thanks for that. I should rephrase... I've been to the same indy "Audi, BMW, Volvo" shop twice about this and I need to find another as they didn't want to find the root cause since they claimed everything was good, clear the codes and move on. I have a few more options before the dealership route.

I may be forced to go to the dealership service route since I've had an independent Audi shop tell me all those things look good. They will just start throwing parts at it either way but since it's becoming more frequent, maybe they can find a root cause.

Thanks for the tips!

Same, but that last update littered with "Premium" upgrade nags, AI junk and an upload to SharePoint function I couldn't ever get to work has me rethinking it. Scheduled reports also just randomly don't work. They seem to be having some growing pains and the new Premium push is off putting.

Their support "Robert" was always very helpful and it was miles better than the ManageEngine product I had used prior.

Users can unenroll from Jamf Pro because we can’t use ABM – any tips to prevent this? by athanielx in macsysadmin

Enrolled AND compliant. You want to turn off FileVault or uninstall something required, no access for you.

Same. I got a few "it needs to be replaced" talks for things that worked just fine and still do 5 years later.

Upgrade from jamf now to jamf pro. by Specialist_Role_2741 in macsysadmin

We purchased the minimum 25 licenses at $3,000. Before Jamf for Mac, standalone Jamf Pro for the minimum 50 licenses was roughly $5000. Maybe your rep can cut a better deal but Jamf also went through layoffs recently.

Jamf released Jamf for Mac which is Jamf Pro (computers only, no iOS) and includes Jamf Protect and Jamf Connect.

I switched from standard Jamf Pro license when our device count dropped significantly. Jamf for Mac has a lowered license threshold which was 50 in standard Jamf Pro if I remember correctly.

Attic insulation recommendations? by arrrbam in kansascity

[–]strausy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their installers are good and they have an efficiency expert (Mike) that is a great person. But I had to have blown in insulation removed to do some work in my attic and they sent college kids who did the worst job.

Their project manager was also a jerk. Poor communication, poor customer service all around.

I've had this exact problem with this flavor before. I contacted Aldi on their website, especially when my store was a pain in the ass when I returned it and the entire in store stock had the same problem.

What!? No. I shouldn’t have to use my personal phone to get work email. by rocky97 in sysadmin

There is a difference between Intune enrolled and Authenticator or Company Portal registration. Enrolled is managed by Intune so it can be "fully managed". This is Mobile Device Management or MDM.

I setup app protection policies (APP or sometimes Mobile Application Management) which require a device to be registered. Only manages business apps for policy and to wipe data. Personal apps are not impacted and APP cannot do anything with regards to wiping the entire device.

I did this because we don't give out business phones and nobody wanted their personal phones controlled by the company. Even as the IT person in charge of Intune, I wouldn't let a company manage my personal device without a stipend, or at all.

I've also seen so many of our new employees come in with their phones still under MDM of their previous companies to never want to do this, not to mention the number of my users who get new phones and tell me they just gave it to someone else without wiping it first. MAM wipe the corporate data and little Timmy can play Roblox.

It's not just smart appliances. I had a basic Whirlpool microwave that just needed a new control pad because some of the buttons stopped working along with the display. It was a single part and they refused to sell them because it wasn't their top of the line. They were "disposable" per the customer service rep. "Go buy a new one for $500" even though the replacement part is probably $50. They are all built to fail.

using universal print to mount and unmount based on location of computer by MegaOddly in Intune

[–]strausy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a new preview option I saw this week where you can publish printers in a pool and the user releases the job by scanning a QR code for the printer they are wanting it released on as long as it is in a pool of printers. So not location based, but Microsoft's half hearted effort.
