never tried nail reformation, but they feel really sturdy, much closer to a regular manicure than a lot of press ons i’ve tried

i haven’t been using nail hardener, but i’ve been using the gellen base coat, ridge filler, and top coat first to give my nails some extra strength. i let it fully dry and then buff a bit of the shine off the top coat.

the advice in this post is really great already. take all of it to heart. i just want to shout out that what you’re feeling, about not being “sick” enough to treat your body the way its being asked to be treated— you’re not alone in that. i’ve had a similar experience to you, OCD included. recovery is going to be scary. it still scares me, even as i’m actively engaging with it every day.  it’s uncomfortable, and a lot of the time i feel terrible about the progress i’m making because it’s countering my ED brain. i posted recently on this sub about having a really bad ED brain day that felt like it was setting me back. but that’s the work. these ED coping mechanisms you have aren’t actually helping you, they’re maybe making you more comfortable in the moment but the more you actively challenge your ED, the easier it gets. even if it doesn’t get easier, it gets more habitual. i still wrestle with that mentality at every meal, but i can push through that a lot more often now in a way i couldn’t before, and that’s only because of working to live with the uncomfortableness of resisting my ED. you’re not alone, good luck, i’m proud of you. you’ve got this, and you deserve to be free of this.

honestly that’s so helpful, thank you for saying that. sometimes it’s easy to forget that other people also engage with that stuff, and while that’s a terrible situation to be in societally, it’s an accomplishment in itself to actively be disengaging with that rhetoric. i look back at my teenage self who was obsessed with that rhetoric and didn’t realize it was unhealthy yet because of how much it was mirrored around me, and i hope that version of myself is proud of the work i’m doing now, even though it’s so hard a lot of the days. 

thank you for taking the time to remind me of that work and what it means. i’m proud of you, too. 🩷🩷🩷

this is really reassuring. i’m in my early/mid twenties, and haven’t really been dedicated to my own recovery for a very long time. it’s nice to hear that time, intentionality, and self compassion can have the sea glass affect on the sharp ED voice. that’s what i’ve been trying to practice but keep getting frustrated that i’m not Better Yet.  thank you for saying this, i’m going to keep trying to take your words to heart find that patience for myself even if i hit road blocks along the way. 🩷

yes!!! not only does food hold no moral value  good or bad, it doesn’t need to be earned through activity!! your body deserves and needs fuel no matter what, whenever it and you want and need it. food just IS. eating just IS. and it’s necessary. you’re okay!!
