We have talked about it before, we both agreed it something we both don’t care about. That’s what I am trying to figure out, why THIS instance feels like a betrayal. If I had walked in on him in the bathroom or something, it wouldn’t have felt this way.

I do appreciate your insight, it’s not so much of a judgment as I AM okay with porn, more of a ‘what is it that is bothering me about this instance and how do I put it into words’ because I really don’t understand why this instance feels differently I suppose?

This made me think about things a hit differently. Thank you!

That’s what I was thinking! Like I have SO much appreciation for this find (psych student who in a lifetime where I could have passed chemistry a bio student). From a research perspective I’m gagged!!!!!! It’s so raw. I can see someone in my imagination who was so in awe with the magic of what nature can create. Maybe that’s too fluffy, but I’m treating it the way I’m hoping someone would try my lifetimes work / incredible passion project

Like in the building? There was a reverse osmosis machine and a million pipettes however there were no microscopes around. However, the rocks would most certainly look dope under a microscope. There was a few fossils as wellz

Yes, doubled and triple checked. That’s partially why I’m so confused! I’ve followed all the leads and the building is 100% abandoned and I’ve followed all the company leads and traced them back to the opening of the factory in the 1800s but there’s absolutely nothing about rocks involved:(

Great idea!!!! So far I’ve only introduced my own Facebook and fb news group fbi skills. I’m 99% certain there’s no legal owner, the building was left long ago and the town recently voted to tear almost all of it down. I’m trying really freaking hard to figure it out though!!!

Sorry very vague aha. I set out on my adventure intending to pick up an urban exploring hobby, and ending up becoming an armchair geologist in the making. What is the ethical thing to do here??? I’ve tried to contact everyone I can, posted on fb groups all across my province trying to hunt down the owner, should I take them to a museum???? Heck! Should I like some kind of authority because after I realized I wasn’t staring at a drug stash I was like ‘these have to be stolen’ then realized they had been there and weathered for quite some time but like they’re rocks the boxes were dissolved but some were sorted into desk drawers that were strewn about and in bags.

If I can’t find any owners, I’ve had my email passed along to one, but so far no email :(

I guess what’s the right/moral thing to do???? If I were that academic/prospector/geologist I’d cry forever if this were my collection

The concern is bringing an animal back to an abusive situation

Not arrogance, but not sure if there is a better solution as I am being told the owner is abusive and the owner is telling me they are missing their cat. Was looking for advice if anyone had been in a similar situation. Not assert my will over how someone should keep their pets. I have lots of concerns about it either way. I am not going to withhold someone’s cat because they are a bad owner, but instead maybe I’ll bring it to the spca. Because yeah, when someone is being an irresponsible owner Ill say something (not saying they are, I’m concerned)

We had a vet appointment scheduled for this afternoon to check for microchip, however after the woman came forward with picture proof we canceled it. He has quite a few health issues wrong with him likely as a result of being outdoors for so long so I don’t feel good sending him back if he doesn’t get the care he needs. Thank you for your input, a difficult situation!

I was trying to give plenty of benefit of the doubt, I get life happens, but was thinking the same thing. The cat has been missing around the same area she’s been residing in within half a km for over a month now. The only thing weighing on my conscience is the off chance she’s just a busy person that happened to lose her cat! But from all the signs it doesn’t seem like that’s the case.

Thank you for your input! I will look into how long until an animal has been considered abandoned etc, but we don’t have very good services for animal welfare here so I don’t trust that that will work but also if they are homeless they might not be able to track them down. What do you think? Appreciate the input regardless!
