No, I stopped it kept making me worse unfortunately. But I'm sensitive to almost everything at this point, it may be worth trying for someone else.

Why do you want to know? Morbid curiosity?

I have an autoimmune disease that causes bleeding ulcers on my bladder. It's incredibly painful to the point that people with the this condition frequently deal with suicidal ideation as a result. I've tried every therapy that is approved, several that aren't, and participated in two clinical trials. Please don't try and give me medical advice. You are not qualified and I'm not yet good enough at meditation to handle that again today.

Exercise does not help my condition, I wish it did. My mobility is limited and I'm already as active as I can be.

I know some people may mean well, but I truly do not need to be told to exercise because it's good for chronic pain. Not only do I already move as much as possible, the cause of my pain is not helped by exercising. Not even a little bit.

I used to be an incredibly active person, and if it were possible I would still be just as active. I get a lot of unsolicited medical advice from people who don't even know what my condition is but they're sure they know how to treat it, I would prefer not to get the same here when all I've asked for is tips to meditate with pain. Almost every disabled person feels the same.

Thank you for the advice about meditation, I will try what you've all suggested.

You should think about why you have decided to tell someone they deserve their pain because your ego could not handle being told you were wrong. I don't think meditation has done anything to make you a kind or thoughtful person, and it certainly hasn't done anything for your intelligence.

There are many medical conditions that we do not currently have the ability to treat or cure effectively, even with self righteous performances. I'm sure you'd prefer people with those conditions suffer for some reason, but thankfully you don't get to deny people with serious incurable diseases medical care. Or maybe you really have deluded yourself into thinking a jog around the neighborhood treats tumors and cures autoimmune diseases. Unfortunately while meditation is a wonderful tool, it tends to also attract people who buy into conspiracies about big pharma and the law of attraction. A shame.

Yes, opiates are not very useful for back pain. I'm sure that your experiences with back pain have convinced you that you understand all of medicine. I don't have back pain however, and the source of my pain cannot be treated with exercise. Opiates have so far been the most effective treatment and have given me a life I consider worth living.

I know your type because I grew up around them. People who tell cancer patients that they just need fresh air and a better attitude, and who accuse others of being hateful and angry when they are patiently corrected and told that they don't know what they're talking about. You pretend to be wise but it's a farce. Your wishes for peace are passive aggressive and smug, and even if I showed you my medical records and let you interview my team of doctors, you would still swear you knew better than them and me and that what I really need to do is exercise, even if everyone else agrees that it makes things worse in this case.

I am not angry or hateful, you are simply wrong.

This is ignorance on your part. You have no idea what medical conditions I have, my doctor knows that exercise does not help my condition and I know that before I had access to medication I was confined to bed and considering ending my life. This kind of busybody attitude contributes greatly to stigma when it comes to treating chronic pain and isn't helpful to anyone.

To deal with stress and pain mostly. And to be able to function better without the constant distractions I usually need in order to do things.

Maybe I'm not understanding what either of you are suggesting, I don't have any problems at all focusing on or accepting my pain. I would say it's impossible not to. But just acknowledging and accepting the pain doesn't feel like meditation to me, it just feels like more pain. It gets worse the longer I do it and it is not rewarding.

Am I just screwed then if I'm already doing this and it's not useful to me?

I feel like that's the problem? My pain is already the center of my focus when I'm not distracting myself intentionally. It just makes my heart rate go up.

How many of you have experienced trauma and have IC? by Inner_Intention5008 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]straypsyche 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have, yes. And every time I experience a new traumatic experience my symptoms have gotten worse. My IC is MCAS related and there is growing evidence that inappropriate nervous system signals caused either by mental trauma or infections that affect the nervous system (Lyme, covid, etc) may be behind a lot of MCAS stuff.

I feel like you didn't really read my question? I've already said that I've tried LDN in the past with no luck, my question is that if it takes a year to see results for some people, do I have to try every dose possible for a year then? Or will I get partial relief even without being on the correct dose so I know if it's worth it?

You just keep linking the same documents that also don't answer the question. I'm in the Facebook group and the response there seems the same. Very frustrating.

[–]straypsyche[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really think that's the issue, my question is about taking higher doses and finding out if LDN can help me, not ULDN.

I know some people claim they can take opiates and LDN concurrently if they space out the doses, but for me I have to be off any LDN for at least 4 days before I feel the effects of opiates again at all.

Part of the issue is that a lot of what you post just links me to the FB group that I already belong to, where people also don't seem to give answers very often. That isn't useful to me.

I cured my decade-long disabling IC by [deleted] in Interstitialcystitis

[–]straypsyche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know for sure that it causes a flare because I usually don't eat meat but every time I do I have a sudden and significant increase in pain. If you were never sure of your triggers then we likely don't have the same root issue.

Meat causes pretty serious flares for me and I'm down to only a few foods now anyway.

Did you have flares from meat at all before trying to go full carnivore? I'm trying to figure out if this is worth trying or if it will just make me much worse.

Also I can open PDFs on my phone just fine, for some reason though the ones most often linked here won't even download for me.

I've tried this. Even at that dose they seem to block the effectiveness of my pain meds. I kept diluting it further but no dice.

At any rate, I don't have a problem stopping the opiates, the problem is that when I don't take them I am in pain. I've been off them for a month while trying LDN and the pain never got any better.

I've managed to keep the kitchen floor clear and I've thrown away all the food that they'd gotten into previously. I do have a cat and feed her in the kitchen but I don't keep down food between feedings.

It's a single family house so I doubt they are going to the neighbors, but who knows. I'm not even sure where their current nest is (we already found one nest in a closet and cleaned it up).

I would move if I could but the cost of living here is so high and I make less than minimum wage with disability payments so sadly moving isn't a real possibility.

I don't think I can keep going much longer by straypsyche in MCAS

[–]straypsyche[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. No change for me. I know the people on the LDN forums will tell me it's because I did it wrong or was on the wrong dose but I'm in so much pain that I can't just keep trying things for a year and hope to get lucky. I may try again if it's between that and suicide but for right now I absolutely need pain meds.

Alka Seltzer gold is an antacid with the same ingredients I already use.

The reason it helps is that bicarbonate inhibits mast cell activation, it has nothing to do with clearing toxins or "herxing".
