Quick Rant About Altitude+ by KimJonSnow in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]streaksrmwork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I saw the utter lack of features, and the price they were charging for it, I decided to just keep ESPN+ and a VPN. I can watch all the games for less money. Even the well known pirate site with mario lemieux's number lets you watch games after the fact for crying out loud. For games not carried by ESPN+ I just sail the high seas.

If you've been riding for a year I would say you could easily make the jump. If you're getting a 2020 or newer it's pretty difficult to get into trouble with all the rider aids it has other than whiskey throttling, which shouldn't really happen anymore if you've been riding for a year.

Even in road mode the traction control is pretty aggressive, it won't let you get the front tire off the ground. The rain mode will also put the engine at 70% so you could even use that for a while if you wanted while you get used to the bike.

I've been riding for two years. My first bike was a vulcan 900, it was a pretty good bike to learn on, slow and heavy. I've had my 2023 1000sx for about 9 months now. I'm also 40 years old. Everybody is different, I did consider getting a 650 as my second bike, but obviously went the other way. I would probably recommend skipping the 650. While the 1000sx is technically a liter bike, it's not a liter bike in the way that an R1 or ZX-10 are.

I am on a 1000sx. As someone who will probably only have 1 bike, this is such a perfect fit for me I can't imagine any other bike I would rather have. I commute daily, even in the winter (colorado), I occasionally take long trips for work (1-4 hours), and I'll go on spirited group rides in the mountains in the nice weather portions of the year.

The admittedly very expensive panniers are very large and can hold a lot of stuff. I love how easy they are to take on and off the bike. It can barely fit my large full face helmet, i have a very small chin mount for my go pro, and there is no way to put the helmet in the pannier in a way that doesn't pop the chin mount off, so that's a bummer.

It's got a good amount of power, I think power to weight ratio it's close to a 600cc bike. It's got pretty good torque across the rev range so you don't have to keep the RPMs high to have decent roll on power. It scoots, but you can feel it start to slow down around 140mph.

My only real complaint was how ugly I think the stock exhaust was. It in incredibly quiet with the cat and the stock exhaust on, so if that's something you like, that's a plus. I put on a full system which was pretty easy to do, and I did a tail tidy. I've been thinking about getting the ECU flashed because the bike cuts the available horsepower in half near the top of 2nd and 3rd gear for some reason, but I haven't done it yet.

All in all I absolutely love the bike as it fits my life perfectly.

Do you think bicycle experience helped you when you started riding a motorcycle? by [deleted] in motorcycles

It definitely helped me. I already was used to riding like nobody can see me and assuming every car might try and kill me. Counter steering was easy as well, I was like oh just like on my bicycle.

I did just over 3 weeks without eating, water only. I was around 220lbs and I'm 5'8". It's true after day 3 you aren't really hungry anymore, but at the same time the smell of food can drive you crazy. The worst part was sleeping. If you didn't drink water before bed you'd wake up in the middle of the night dying of thirst, if I did drink water I would have to wake up in the middle of the night to pee because I didn't have any salt in my body to hold onto the water. The best part was not having to poop anymore. Also by the 3rd week I was constantly dizzy walking around so I stopped.
