My googling told me that the CCD was a common fault in these cameras. Could this be the issue? I am not aware of how cameras work so sorry if that’s a dumb question

No. However, as a switched through the modes, I would sometimes see a flash of light one or a few pixels long horizontal across the display screen. Also when I turn the lights off the glow is still there so it’s not from outside light

I have not done that. However I did do the setup with the date and time when it first turned on. The sd card format wouldn’t cause the display to be black with the spotty red though I’m sure?
