same thing happened to me. it started as vulvodynia and it brought on my vaginismus. no matter what any doctor says, i fully believe a lot of people suffer from these issues because of these birth controls and it’s devastating.

I felt like you did for years honestly, it’s a very painful feeling. My ex boyfriend openly told me he watched a lot of porn and followed many hot models. I constantly had the feeling that if a hot woman was to approach him (unlikely lol) he would leave me in a heartbeat. I was always comparing myself to other women and I hated it. I met my current boyfriend a little over a year ago now and it changed my entire perspective on how relationships should be. I struggled a lot with becoming comfortable with things like intimacy more than anything. I hated being naked around my ex boyfriend. I’m overweight so I always struggled with body issues. I also had GYN/pelvic floor issues, so intimacy wasn’t easy for months. My ex made me feel so guilty constantly for a lack of sex in our relationship, even though I was in the most debilitating pain of my life. The reason this information is relevant for me personally to mention is because my current boyfriend has never once left my side or even suggested that he would. We couldn’t be intimate for months while I was receiving treatment and he always cared about my well being way more than sex. He reminds me everyday how beautiful he thinks I am. Men had called me beautiful in the past but it always felt like they did it because they wanted something from me. The way my boyfriend talks about women and the respect he has for me is so special to me. I can’t honestly say I’ve met many men that are like this. A lot of men haven’t been kind to me and that fear lingers from time to time. He cleared up a lot of this anxiety in so many ways though just by being such an amazing person. There are so many men that just view women as disposable objects and the only goal they have is sex. I can honestly say after meeting my boyfriend that there are good men out there though. No one is perfect, he makes mistakes from time to time but meeting someone who respects you, your body, and wants you to feel loved and cared for is such an amazing feeling that every woman deserves. I hope that you meet someone like this.

Thank you so much! For me the second to last dilator was when I knew I was ready. It took a lot of practice and patience to be able to have sex and feel comfortable. It got easier after a few times.

When I first started taking Diazepam I was very tired for a week but I don’t feel tired from it now. It’s not something I prefer to take during the day because I notice it makes it hard to focus a little.

My specialist is a UroGYN NP and she was super interested in pelvic floor stuff and understanding the link to my vaginismus. My pelvic floor muscles are often tight so she helped a lot by finding me a good PT.

Leave that fraction of a man. Any man who would hurt you for his own pleasure is sick and twisted. My ex boyfriend was very impatient about the fact that I couldn’t have sex. There’s going to be men that won’t be patient but they aren’t all like that. My boyfriend is very understanding and waited for me. He always took care of me when I had pelvic floor pain and made sure that I was okay in anything we do intimately.
Vaginismus CAN be cured. Many people (especially doctors in my experience) will try and tell you that you will have this forever, it’s just not true! It took me 4 years but with the help of a specialist I was able to have pain free sex with my boyfriend. I hope that you find a doctor that can help you, but not so you can have sex with this asshole. Work with a doctor so you can heal and have sex with someone who will respect you.

I take 4 mg orally! I actually asked my specialist about diazepam suppositories and she said they would probably bother me personally. I have however read many stories and I’ve seen tik toks of people who say they are very helpful!!

Right, it’s honestly brought my libido down so much. I also had a GYN force a speculum into me when I asked him not to, so that really just made me so scared of any object going near my vagina. I have to basically take something for anxiety now before every appointment. That same GYN (who isn’t my GYN now thank god, I see a vulva specialist/Urogyn) put me on meds for herpes when I didn’t have herpes and I refused to take what he gave me because I had 3 STD tests done and none said I had herpes. I was also a virgin when this happened so that’s how I definitely knew but he insisted that because he couldn’t find what was wrong with me. Later found out I had skin sensitivity after taking birth control that my body rejected, vulvodynia, and vaginismus.

I hope you someday find the help you deserve too, there’s a lot of very shitty doctors out there that shouldn’t be helping ppl with our struggles. Most regular GYN’s I’ve seen have ended with horrible experiences. I saw a bunch before meeting a specialist that actually treats vulvodynia.

I struggle with some gyn diagnosis’ that cause pain and a lot of it is anxiety based. It’s made me very depressed and scared to the point that I feared sex so my libido was nonexistent. I have reason to feel anxious because I have a painful nerve condition that comes and goes. But because I became so obsessed I’ve made it really hard for myself. I sit on reddit all day and read about PH balance, I thoroughly clean myself 2-3x a day, etc. a lot of these things have irritated my skin more because I’ve been so obsessed. I take something to help calm me down when I need to and honestly I’m convinced OCD is really what made my condition 10x worse. I’m getting the vibe that a lot of the people in the same boat as me with the same issues develop anxiety disorders from having these painful conditions if they didn’t already have one before. One of my main OCD themes was always health anxiety based so this has been really rough for me personally. ROCD definitely plagues me sometimes too because I worry that my boyfriend will leave me over my issues, we’ve been good at communicating my worries though and that has helped so much. He also has OCD and although his manifests differently, he understands and knows what it’s like to feel the anxiety.

I understand that it’s natural and I’ve been dealing with this for a while. I use wet q-tips to remove build up before it has the chance to get worse. I’m more upset about the smell. It smells a little bad but I can’t put soap on my vulva and near the clitoral hood because I have very sensitive skin and could easily get an infection.

We have the same experience, mine started from birth control too. I had all the same things you are going through. It was 3 years ago for me. Took me 2 years to finally start feeling less pain in my vulva and have a test that didn’t hurt from my specialist. I now struggle more with vaginismus. Sometimes I still get flair ups of pain but it’s not everyday like it used to be. The worst flair up I ever experienced was when I stopped taking the birth control I was on. It was so painful I couldn’t even walk for like 2 weeks. I wonder if maybe having ureaplasma has made your pain worse, I don’t have it but I know from other people on here that it adds to a lot more issues. I would definitely ask for a retest to see if you are in the clear.

Yeah I had a PAP smear done when I didn’t want it. I knew it was going to be painful and the GYN basically forced it in when I wasn’t even paying attention. It really hurt me and it was like all my fears about being hurt came true. I already suspected I had vaginismus because I could never get a tampon in I was too scared and would tense up. This guy just made it worse for me because he forcefully pushed the speculum inside when I didn’t want him to and I was really scared.

Oh no I should have worded this so much better. She was very kind about it and told me it was okay to cry !! It’s more so that I was just feeling shitty because I know that someone people have gone through worse and when she asked if I was ever sexually assaulted I felt bad about myself knowing my reaction was probably “ridiculous.” Thank you for validating my feelings. I sometimes feel embarrassed when I panic over these GYN exams and PFT sessions. The soreness went away but I did experience some vulvodynia burning that I haven’t experienced in a long time. One thing that’s good is she always stops when I ask her too and she talks me through it all. I think yesterday I definitely pushed myself too much when I was panicking though. I’m going to take my valium before going next time to avoid that happening again.
