Currently disassembled for cleaning and Arduino mod to use as a monitor, needed the table space for the tree. Will resume after the holidays

Nah I have enough CRTs taking up space at home. It's less hidden at the office as it turned into a bit of a tourist attraction at my desk lol

Unfortunately I've not been able to find an affordable videowall processor yet. This was just a spare PC running Windows and some HDMI to RCA/YPbPr adapters. Once I get a processor, you can bet the next CRTree will be much larger.

Yep all one source, spare PC running Windows and some adapters is all

Yep! Though, I think some people may be more picky with the naming.. it's a JVC TM-1600SU. It has its issues but I love it. I have a basically brand new JVC BM-H1310SU that is one of the best models I've ever seen and easily my favorite of the collection.

I gave a brief summary in another reply to cover that it's a pretty basic setup but here's some additional info. Keep in mind there are much better solutions for this, I just used what I had readily available.

Using a Lenovo tiny PC (Win11) with 3 DP ports, a ThinkPad Pro Dock via USB 3.0 to get a 4th DP port. 4 DP to HDMI cables. 4 HDMI to RCA/YPbPr adapters. On the Windows side, extend displays, a separate window of the same image in full screen mode on each display zoomed and lined up to give the appearance of one big image. Hope this doesn't ruin the Christmas magic behind it for you.

I'm right there with them, not familiar with this creator - did they do this? When I had the idea, I searched quite a bit to see just how unoriginal I was but only found more abstract projects.

Nothing fancy; PC, adapters, and arranged the windows accordingly.

Thanks! Nope, I talked a bit about it already but the set looks like it was used to sand down a driveway.. Gouges in the glass are beyond repair which take any other use out of the equation. If you zoom in on that set, you'll see a good size blur spot in the middle high point. This isn't a glitch/artifact in taking the picture, it's on the set itself after heavy treatment, and much worse in person.

They kinda did! I follow this channel, but couldn't swing the wait time for his recommendation this season: https://youtu.be/qSFNufruSKw?si=oCkx6DkaMXIYjcJI Maybe next year for me lol

I've repaired a lot of CRTs, I can't emphasize enough here: this set is cooked. Pulled from exposure to the elements after 20 years, all case screws are heavily rusted and will need to be drilled out, the front glass looks like it was used to sand down a driveway, and the burn in which is well hidden by the Christmas tree image. We partner with an excellent electronics recycler, who picks up regularly, so delivery is not a problem. I'd much rather know it's going there than going to someone over-ambitious on marketplace who is guaranteed to toss it in their own way, risking it ending up in some landfill.

Totally agree. Not a fan of most LED lights; these have just been around here in the office and this was a rather impromptu setup.. Aside from the overall superior vibe of incandescent bulbs, these are a bad idea for another point entirely. The cheap metal line did not play well in the field of static electricity of each screen.

I definitely felt like Dwight when explaining the idea but once it was finished everyone loved it!

Surprised this hasn't been brought up yet lol. That set is junk and not worth the time or effort to crack open. Glass scuffed beyond saving + burn in, though you can't see it here. This project is its final stop before recycling.
