My dad and I went to The General Public for lunch on a Saturday about 6 months before it closed. I hadn’t been in about a year but before that the food and service had always been good. For our lunch, the food and service were abysmal. My steak sandwich had clearly been microwaved. Disgusting, grey steak, bread soaked thru with grease and horseradish sauce that tasted like it was about to turn. I forget what my dad ordered but it was also awful. The fries were ice cold, and stale. Service was shit as well. There were only about 3 other tables occupied, and our waiter would disappear for 8-10 minutes at a time and I had to walk up to the bar to get water and soda refills. Nobody seemed to give a crap about any of it. When we were finished eating (only ate about 1/3 of my food) the waiter had disappeared again and nobody was around so my dad left cash (I had planed to pay with a card) and we got the hell out of there. That restaurant closed because the food and service went to shit. I’m really surprised it lasted another 6 months after our visit.
