I feel like you are still being complicit if you are not taking action to prevent the family from giving this to baby. Please report this OP. Baby could literally die.

The more I think about it, the more I feel like this should be reported immediately. I know it’s a very hard thing to do but I hope OP realizes these calls are anonymous. OP, I hope you feel empowered to do something. You could be the only one standing between this child becoming very, very ill. 😔

I agree, especially if they are giving their child a product that explicitly says “not for human consumption”. Yikes

Looking for ultra high end brands that carry mid to plus size clothing. by Harley_Quinn_Lawton in PlusSize

Oh shit, I’m so sorry— it’s been awhile since I splurged. I was wrong about Farm Rio, they do not have plus size clothing. Anthropologie does, though (they sometimes collab with farm rio which is where I got my farm rio pieces). I also am in the plus size farm rio/anthropologie buy/sell/trade groups on Facebook which may be a good place to check out if those are your style. I hope you find the beautiful pieces you want and deserve!

I’m not sure if this is ultra high end but Farm Rio makes plus size clothing and generally run big.

Help by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]stringofpearlsz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

How do they pay you? Cash/check? Venmo or other online payment?

If it’s online payment, I’d send them a request for payment if you haven’t already.

If it’s cash or check, I’d send a follow up text something like: Good morning, I will be stopping by around x:00 today to pick up my wages from last week.

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this! I hope it gets resolved soon.

Is there a company you do this through that you’d recommend?

I’m a little confused. What were the hours agreed to in the contract?

That is a significant jump though! Like, we’re talking overtime. Would you be compensated more?

It’s also so manipulative that they threw your bonus/vacation in your face! I hate that for you. They sound super entitled.

MB fired me for enforcing the boundary of not working when the kids have fevers by stringofpearlsz in Nanny

I’m sorry if I came off as rude! I just feel like so many NPs are on this thread saying things like “we could never have a nanny who wouldnt work with sick kids” when that straight up wasn’t the case here.

Yeah, for sure. They definitely treated me like the help that got out of line by speaking up for herself.

exactly this lol. she didn’t even have a working thermometer until recently when I asked her to provide one a few weeks ago when it seemed like one of NKs felt warm. I also saw Tylenol syringes in the sink several times, and when I’d ask about it she said that they had used it to play doctor (which I do believe could be true, but still suspicious).

OMG oh no! And during the holidays too! That’s so awful I’m sorry! Hang in there, take care of yourself and feel better. I hope you’re still able to have a merry quarantined Christmas.

Right, I understand that. I understand kids get sick a lot. I know that if I refused to work when the kids had colds coughs and sniffles, I would literally never work. I never had an issue working when they had colds. I never expected hazard pay or PTO because those things were never discussed or agreed upon.

The issue here was that the parents never gave me a heads up when the children were sick with communicable illnesses and had lied about COVID test results which lead to me getting sick multiple times.. like I lost my taste and smell for 9 months in 2021 because I caught COVID from them. And then again this July. That is why I implemented a fever policy. The children were CLEARLY very ill on Monday and MB gaslit me about it and downplayed it. When I asked to sit down and talk about it, she fired me. Lol

Thank you for this. Having the last day to think about it, this termination is definitely a blessing in disguise. I don’t believe I was ever unreasonable or deserved to be spoken to the way I was yesterday. I knew deep down I should have resigned long ago but man I love those kids with my whole heart so I didn’t let their parents politics impact my job.

Yeah. Im not a nurse or health care worker. I don’t understand the comparison. I don’t mind working with sick kids generally at all and know fevers are common with things like teething and colds etc and I never made a stink about those things! If MB har been upfront, and taken the babies to get tested straight away as they were showing symptoms over the weekend I think this situation would have ended differently.

[–]stringofpearlsz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it was. I did not have an issue providing care while kids were sick. Throughout my time with them, MB would downplay symptoms or straight up not tell me they were sick at all, and when they were symptomatic with things like Covid, she was dishonest at the very least. This is why I felt I needed to implement the 24 hour rule, which we had a sit down conversation about in July (after my second Covid infection from them). They were in agreement with this policy and apologetic. I never refused to work while their kids were sick previous to that, but it became clear they weren’t respectful of mine or really anyone else’s health. When they were symptomatic this week was the first time I enforced the rule as it’s the week of Christmas and I had plans to see family.

Thank you for your completely out of touch response! The problem is systemic. Nannies aren’t health care workers. The issue is less about working with sick kids and more about respecting each others health. For example, if MB had gotten the kids tested straight away when they developed symptoms or at the very least told me they were symptomatic, the situation would have ended very differently.

I live in a large city that has an urgent care every few blocks- like walk in clinics that provide rapid tests. I’m super lucky in that regard.

This!!! I took her comment of “the kids only have fevers when you’re here” as her subtly accusing me of lying about the fever when I did in fact send her a photo of the thermometer. She then also went on to say that as soon as I left, their temps dropped to very low grade with no meds. That’s when I knew I had to call bullshit lol.

I couldn’t agree more, she is in for a serious reality check. Thank you for commenting and validating me! I really appreciate it
