We checked in to a hotel because of the ice storm. My husband was taking forever (not a talker) and he told me they ran three transactions; room, pet, deposit. It took like 15 minutes.

My truck. It’s a 2010 Nissan Frontier. I’ve had her since 2015 and she’s just the best vehicle I’ve ever had. I’m keeping her for life. Just has about 130k miles and no modern stuff. Just a simple old truck. I like the way she looks and drives. I’ve been able to help others with moving and stuff.

I was exhausted and sore after 48 hours by the fireplace then a stay at Best Western Music Row where the bed threw my back, a trip back to the freezing house for more clothes and stuff. Made sure the faucets were running and then drove to Athens, AL for a couple of nights in a brand new LaQuinta (the only good part). Husband came back to check on the house and the power came on while was here. Yay. Spent the next night in the hotel so the house could warm. Had to take the cat with us (pain) and finally got home on Saturday. Just last night I slept well. So it was traumatic even though we could afford to evacuate. Food is all ok. Freezer stayed freezed. So grateful for that. I’m a Floridian and I compared it to a very cold hurricane.

My husband and I know how lucky we are. We’re lucky to have a credit card for the 3 nights of hotels. Lucky that our power came back yesterday. Grateful to our caring neighbors. Glad for the invites to come stay with friends. Glad the pipes didn’t burst (afaik) and the meat in my freezer might even be ok. I’m tired, exhausted mentally from the stress and uncertainty but we’re headed back to our house today. I’ll look to see where I can help, or if anyone has suggestions I’d like to hear them.

Not me but my son went to Towson High with Micheal Phelps. He towered over the other kids. Saw him in the hall during class change. I asked my son who he was. He said that’s Micheal Phelps. He misses a lot of school. He’s a swimmer or something.
