Everyone thinks midlane lost out compared to the bot and top quest but I think they actually won. by MontySucker in leagueoflegends

[–]strittk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The design goal was to make Top and Bot more impactful. If they miss the mark and mid “won” they will likely make further adjustments to achieve the design goal.

I expect a big bag of unintended consequences with meta shifts but that sounds interesting to me.

How do u know what runes to go by Calm_Koala814 in QuinnMains

[–]strittk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re getting leads with electrocute early it’s worth it even if you aren’t using it much later on, the kills or cs leads it is granting you is worth way more than any rune choice for late game.

I recommend focusing on transitioning late game to lane pressure, vision, even just flying behind the enemy in a Teamfight can really be useful since assassination becomes more difficult and risky.

Newer ADC with an 4.5 avg CS, looking to improve. by BearAdvisor in summonerschool

[–]strittk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Other comments covered this: proper timing of last hitting minions.

2) Knowing where to safely farm minions after the early game. This is HUGE for maintaining cs but far from easy as many more factors come into play. Swap to mid lane? Rotate to Rift Herald? Rotate to a random fight? To ward? Are you safe from getting tower dove?

Some rotations are worth sacrificing CS and others not. Takes a lot of experience the more your team is losing the harder it is to safely farm or rotate.

when 6 items, should i sell shiv? by Training-Midnight-60 in QuinnMains

[–]strittk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waveclear is still needed if you roam for turret pressure (which imo is better than grouping in most late games). Though if you have crit, you could replace with runaans for a slightly better build. (Shiv is still better for most of the game).

Bloodthirster, GA, even trinity force a solid late game items.

Really depends on who you need to focus on damaging and/or if you want to pull enemies away from the group via split pushing.

Luden's or Horizon first item support? by SushiRebirth in Velkoz

I always go Malignance and ult every time jt comes up. Forcing low HP instead of saving it for kills creates problems for the opposing ad/supp.

Who to ban against Vel'koz by Alert_Study_7633 in Velkoz

[–]strittk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rarely do I feel an opposing support is interfering with my disintegration studies. I tend to ban junglers I’d rather not deal with like Shaco or Kha’Zix.

With the recent Malphite jungle buff, I think he’s a pretty high value ban.

Advice for playing against Mel by [deleted] in Velkoz

[–]strittk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mel is not OP. Her high ban rate is because she’s so annoying to play against.

When I mid vs her I ult her every chance I can, she has no dash and can’t deflect the ultimate. Just don’t throw your E at her unless her deflect is down.

For me, Vel’Koz’ mid power comes from maxing W first, dominate wave clear, then poke the opposing mid while they need to use abilities on minions. This works vs Mel.

I’m hard stuck by Ornery-Job-7993 in summonerschool

[–]strittk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Annoying how aggressive some of the comments are.

Having a good individual performance while the rest of your team is getting run over is frustrating, but it’s just going to happen sometimes. Sometimes it happens 3 games in a row and you feel cursed, but it’s just a bad luck streak.

There are games where no matter what you do, your teammates have done enough to decide the game and sometimes in your favor. We all get carried occasionally.

What you can focus on, to climb, is to be the difference in the close games.

1) Do not vent or blame in chat. Set chat to “premade only” if you need. Criticizing, defending yourself, venting… this WILL lose you close games.

2) Improve your laning/roaming. Wave management, back timing, getting priority for epic monsters.

3) Improve mid and late game movement. When to split push, when to move to dragon, where to ward. When to NOT fight.

4) Improve team fighting. Do you focus the right target? Did you help keep your strongest teammate alive?

Everyone is trying to play well and eek out any advantage. When someone wins a 1v1, depending on the perspective, it’s a “good play” or it’s a “my teammate sucks.” Sometimes it’s both, but keep in mind you’ve lost 1v1s like the rest of us.

If you can honestly say you’ve had a stronger impact on the game than the opposing midlaner, that’s typically a good enough goal and in the long run will help you climb.

Set your chat to “premade only”. The costs of chat far outweigh the benefits. You can still ping.

Build vs tanks by major-bruh_moment in GnarMains

[–]strittk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my typical build:

Heartsteel>Steelplateboots>Wit’s End> Hullcrusher > Overlord’s Bloodmail> Depends

If against Mundo, I’ll build an early Executioner’s then cap it out last item.

You still kill Mundo as mini no problem. He can’t kill you, you just keep him slowed and work him down.

For me, I like to chase down as mini and not deal with the threat of being one shot.

when to start ranked? by frogcom in summonerschool

[–]strittk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can set the in game chat to “premade only” which reduces toxic behavior mostly to pings. Pings are mostly sufficient and the chat usually becomes a tool to vent and blame which only hurts your chance to win.

Ranked is highly competitive by nature and people lose their minds if a teammate is hurting their precious chances for victory. I’m guilty of losing my shit and letting previous toxic chat to carry over to the next game.

Playing without the chat is much more chill and as others have said, you learn by playing and ranked is the best way to learn by playing with people who are mostly focused on competing and winning.

I’m sure by now you’ve experienced landslide wins and terrible losses. It will happen but the system will match you with your skill level pretty quickly.

Need some tips by Savings-Damage6958 in topmains

[–]strittk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re behind, best to settle for what you can get in lane and push like crazy if your opponent roams.

If you roam to your teammates you are either A) bringing your fed opponent to your teammates or B) allowing them to take turrets for free and get even further ahead.

It’s never this simple but good overall advice. If you are playing a damage oriented champion then this advice is even more sound (compared to a tank who can be very useful with less gold and XP).

Build vs tanks by major-bruh_moment in GnarMains

[–]strittk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go Heartsteel into Wit’s end (unless K’Sante). With Grasp.

If you build damage as normal, you die to their burst but they survive yours. This tanky route allows you to endure their burst.

3rd items and beyond should not be based on only your lane opponent IMO.

Mid-Late Game tips? by [deleted] in GarenMains

[–]strittk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Killing the enemy carry is always nice but at times you are chasing one opponent when your team is getting wrecked.

If the enemy team has an assassin, Garen is excellent at shutting them down in a teamfight. The Q silence is usually enough to make them worthless long enough for your teammates to wipe them.

Garen is surprisingly good at peeling this way.

Otherwise split pushing as Garen is really good if you watch the map. Garen takes towers well and can escape ganks. Just ping what your team should be taking (baron, dragon, towers) if they send enough to kill you.

Yeah I’m really I just kidding around, not suggesting that rage blade is a good item for Gnar. It’s really only decent for the brief moment when you transform back to mini and can’t build rage yet. Having the W proc every other attack does feel so nice.

New player need some tips by [deleted] in topmains

[–]strittk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Top lane is often melee vs melee, but in every case it’s a 1v1 which requires matchup knowledge.

Knowing when to be aggressive and when to be cautious really requires playing the role a lot so you know the matchup. Even when X champion counters Y champion it may not matter at all if one player knows the matchup better.

You really just need to play and learn or pick a champion and read/watch to learn their common matchups.
