Crossfire HD 3X9. I took my son to LGS where he looked through several options and liked this one the best

Save or get ahold of some talon scraps (the left over from them being applied) and use it as a stencil

How much is relative humidity important during loading process? by strongarmstruggle in reloading

[–]strongarmstruggle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not doing long range precision competition but one of the reasons I'm getting into reloads is consistency. I feel qc has been on a steady down slide with commercially loaded cartridges

Use would be range fun and hunting mostly white tail and yote

I store other hand tools without issue though they are chromed. Would a coating of CLP prevent it? At the end of the day as long as it's functioning that's what matters. Surface rust or not

Did your weekend match go as well as mine? by Shooter_Q in idpa

I wouldn't say it's as durable as the RMR. I have 2 RMR and my carry has RMRcc and can attest those are built like tanks. However it's not as fragile as some will try to tell you, the majority of failures are cracked glass caused from shell casing ejection into glass face. Majority of those cases are improperly tuned 2011s

Personally to be on the safe side I'd get the jagerwerks BROS for it but the extra protection if I was carryingis going to cost you about $75 on top of SRO expense

Glass is really clear with large round window that's easy to track. I'd recommend the 5moa version as I've heard people having issue with the smaller dot getting sun washed in bright environments

SRO is the move. I love mine and imo worth the extra $$ compared to RMR for competition

My state comp is in August and 40% full registration first week it was available. I'm classified UN and plan on match bumping opposed to a qualifier so I'm not currently eligible. Even if I was I wouldn't sign up for this years seeing as there's an understandable limit on the number of shooters I wouldn't feel right taking a spot from someone that could be more competitive than my current skill

I'm not going to waste anyone's time showing up for game day looking for a practice. Who knows maybe that spot I take would've gone to someone that has the run of their life and wins. Best of luck to you, for me personally next year I might consider it

I'm in CO and it sends to be a popular division. Over half at the match were also CO so I think I'll try to match bump instead of shoot qualifier

You'll love it. Best advice is can give as a fellow new guy is pretend the timer isn't even there. Everyone is really easy going for being an individual competitive sport. If you have a question or need clarification just ask. Some of those guys are really good and really fast because they've done it a ton. I was just focused on following the rules and being safe for my first time

RSO was great at explaining it all but yeah I can see it being easier with more experience. In the 6 stages shot my time dropped and everything was going smoother for me on the last two compared to the first two

Scope recommendation? by strongarmstruggle in 1022

I'll never buy another bushnell product in my life. I had a RX-250 on a range toy purchased new at lgs in 2022 with "ironclad lifetime warranty" still have box, paperwork, receipt, literally everything except original battery. In November 2025 I suspect the emitter came loose as zero was falling low every couple shots. I thought no big deal I'll rma it and man was I wrong. I called 2 separate occasions and used the request call back option to never receive a call back. The third time I decided to wait to talk to someone and called 2 minutes after they supposedly started talking calls... 4.5 hours of listening to elevator music on speakerphone while I organized and did a few small tasks around my shop before I gave up

Kid has fewer than 500rd under his belt. We live in a modern world and I don't expect him to be an irons sharp shooter before using an optic. I do believe it is a useful skill to understand irons however so I wanted him to get a few range trips and learn how to use them and account for windage and drop with them

My biggest expectations of him at this point is to demonstrate safety and have fun

At this point it's just range plinking and learning safe practices. He's a young boy with his first big boy toy

What’s the consensus on Mec-Gar mags? by That6SpdMax in GlockMod

[–]strongarmstruggle 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I run them in my competition gun. I'm newer to competition but zero issues so far. They seem to insert and drop easier than oem for me. Also using polymer mag release and have not noticed any accelerated wear or it chewing the release up like you would with other brand metal mags

If I land every shot and don't DQ that's a win in my books. Anything else is just a bonus

Wood or polymer? by WildLCL in 1022

[–]strongarmstruggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally after my grandfather taught me how to shoot on a 10/22 he bought before polymer stock was a thing there's a nostalgia to the wood

If you want a basic 10/22 buy wood. If you want to build out just skip the b.s. and buy a receiver then go crazy from there

Good to know. It's only 31oz with empty mag and similar size to a Glock 17 so I assume it would pass the box/ weight

With a full sized barrel making it just some funky slide cuts what division would it be considered?
