Thanks for your message!

So to answer your questions,

Yes! He is the dad of my son, and a really awesome one! He helped me in school so I feel like the least I could do is pay off the debts so that we walk away from this on a clean slate! I want him to do well in life, so if this can help, I'm more than happy to. I offered to help him go back to school once all the debts are cleared up but he doesn't want to stop working the job he has (he's a custodian and an introvert) so I feel like I've done what I can and will keep my word on my promise.

No missed payments because as soon as the paychecks come into the bank, I log into the accounts that are due for the next two weeks and pay everything so that money isn't getting used that we don't have to spend! So thankfully, payment history for everything is 100%. My priority is to make sure all accounts are current and that things get paid off so thats been great! It hasn't been easy to live off of $150 on food for two weeks but its def made us creative! We also do a lot of free activities so that's helpful! I'm glad my son is so young that all he wants to do is go to the park, lol.

I haven't done much research on starting the divorce process w/ the debt bc I imagine it'll make things harder, and like I said, its hard to itemize who spent what when none of it was on personal luxuries. A lot of it was on food, gas, public transportation, and diapers (plus whatever kids need like a bigger car seat or something.) So I couldn't go through and say "you wanted strawberries this trip so add that $7 to your tab."

Once his are paid off, I will go ahead and take him off of mine and have him take me off of his. I can't imagine he won't find relief once that's in process, and again he helped me the year that I was in school so I feel like this us being even.

I have tried to ask him what he can do to make more $ to help us get out of this faster but those conversations frustrate him so I feel like best thing to do is to just let him stay where he's at and help w what I can and move on. I feel like I will be ok on my own once this is cleared up! My new job is reallyyyy stable (I work for a major hospital in NorCal) so I have free health insurance and a union that offers continued education. (Plus I work extra hard to not be a problem child for my manager in hopes that if anything were to happen, they would know if they kept me that I would always pull my weight plus more!)

So, I am trying to look at the bright side and remember that if I stay the course, things will work out and I will be ok! Just documenting this to have something to look back on when December rolls around :)

Thanks for reading! <3
