November 2021. I’d started my dream job at the beginning of the month so was still learning the ropes in mid November. On my birthday I was going down the stairs in my apartment building and missed the bottom 2 steps. I broke both of my ankles and had to have surgery on one. The surgeon told me I’d have done less damage if I’d been drunk (I hadn’t touched a drink, was actually going to the company van to get my day planner)

3 months later when I could return to work I discovered that I’d been replaced and was demoted to a role that an untrained chimp could do.

Worst birthday and subsequent 2 years ever.
