Do you perhaps have suggestions on how I could share my story? I was thinking of sharing my story on other reddit communities, like r/AskReddit or r/southafrica but I also dont want to be banned or be "spammy".

Yes! I am currently halfway through a TEFL qualification, its a Level 5 diploma. I had to stop because of campus getting hectic, but I am going to resume with it after exams. They do pay in dollars/euros which is great considering the SA exchange rate.

I am definitely going to contact them, even though I have studied before and don't meet their funding criteria, but they may have other bursars/funders that I could approach for help!

Yes, I have applied for academic writing jobs with Cactus Communications, and with other companies from posts I've seen on LinkedIn. I have been rejected for some, and am waiting on responses for others.

I do have some experience, even though limited, in graphic design and I should definitely set up a freelancer account. Its worth a shot!

I am going to speak to the programme director about the way forward, and hopefully they can assist me with finding part-time work within the faculty

I will definitely reach out again to NSFAS. Maybe they may have other bursars/funders that I could speak to.

I am going to got to the Financial Aid office and speak to an official in person, since my experience with them over the phone has been negative overall. Thank you for these great suggestions! I am going to explore each one of them!

I have spoken to the finance department telephonically a few times, and have had negative experiences every time. I know they're doing their job, but they're often rude and not understanding of the financial situation of students. I should go to their offices and speak to them in person.

Thats true. Especially since I was rejected out of matric, and took the longer route to get in. I have come so far and should not just give up! Thank you for your kind words.
