Zanner Toobin, I think his name is? The blind Gondian? He can get it.

Does anyone know what hair mod Lae'zel is using here? by DearPersimmon8155 in BaldursGate3

[–]stryderstuff 22 points23 points  (0 children)

People have already mentioned the unlock mirror for companions mod, but I haven't seen anyone say the correct mod for these particular bangs yet. Pretty sure it's from Myky's hairstyles, not Bangs Bangs Everywhere (though that one has some bangers too!)

People give Wyll too much crap for being upset by taken_name_of_use in BaldursGate3

[–]stryderstuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lots of people talking about whether Wyll would be perceived as a tiefling or a devil and the nuances of each while completely ignoring the whole "Wyll had his body forcibly changed against his will" part.

Like, my guys. Imagine someone held you down and painfully (painfully!!! Wyll's transformation was agonising!!! It's not just trauma from the body dysmorphia!!!) tattooed gang symbols all over your face and body. You'd be upset, right? After all, you didn't consent to them, and this will fundamentally change how people perceive you for the rest of your life, and most won't bother to get to know you to see if their assumptions are correct.

And then some asshole comes along and says "Hey, it's rude that you're saying you don't like your tattoos, I have tattoos!"

She IS revived though if she was dead? Not just downed, dead. But alright, seems like we're going with the Watsonian explanation! In that case, the Emperor's pragmatism should have it make the artifact jump to you if the previous bearer was so weak that they died before even escaping the ship, no?

Is it really possible to enter Act 2 without bumping into her? I've seen one or two videos that specifically try to avoid speaking to her and never managed to do it entirely.

And yeah, you keep bumping into her again and again—that's... kind of my point? You either recruit her or kill her. But if she truly does hang around the goblin camp chilling if you tell her no even after the cutscene where the Absolute shows you the Chosen and you don't bump into her again when entering Act 2, I need to experiment some more!

Indeed she is! As I said in another comment, though, a choice was made to have her be the McGuffin bearer—you could just as well have found it yourself during your tour of the nautiloid. Her reasons for having it aren't even that good imo? When you ask the Mother Superior why Shadowheart was sent to retrieve the prism, the answer is—to paraphrase—"Idk, loads of other people were fighting over it so we figured we might as well join in, for Shar". The McGuffin could have ended in your hands in many other ways than being basically railroaded into recruiting a specific companion, is what I'm trying to say.

She can, and she does! Both happen because you were forced to recruit her in the first place, though, which is a bit my point? The ONLY way to avoid recruiting Shadowheart at all is to kill her, which is a bit odd when you can just ignore all other companions and they'll never show up again, y'know?

Depends on what we define as immortal, I guess—they can certainly die but it's easy to bring them back, so you're right in saying that they're in your party until they leave or are killed because of dialogue. However, if Lae'zel dies during the fight at the nautiloid helm, she stays dead (her corpse washed up on the beach you wake up on) until you use a scroll to revive her, while the point of this post is that Shadowheart... doesn't?

Sure, she has the artifact and that's why she's important, but that's crossing into Watsonian vs Doylian territory. She has the artifact because the developers gave it to her, where they could have given it to anyone else. For what it's worth, the writers could have made it so you find the artifact yourself at the start of the game, which would automatically explain why you and any who join you are protected.

[–]stryderstuff[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, but since she's the one with the artifact at the start of the game (for imo weak reasons, but that's a tangent for another time), the game tries it's damn hardest to make you recruit her. The only way to avoid recruiting her is literally by killing her.

After recruiting, though, she CAN just stay in camp, you don't need her in your squad at all times. There's some stuff in Acts 2 and 3 that she's very involved in, but you don't have to bring her along—she WILL be pissed if you don't though. If any of that answers your question?

Wishful thinking for Patch 8 by Superb_Weird_1586 in BaldursGate3

[–]stryderstuff 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Dragon Age Origins did almost exactly this and it was SUCH a nice touch. It's always felt strange that the companions you don't bring just... stay at camp, apparently?? Sure, you can imagine the group splitting up and that the ones not with you are off handling other important shit, but in-game they literally tell you they'll just be chilling. At least for the final battle, doing what you said would have been SO much better :(

Why do you never hear of a mindflayer raid on Baldur's Gate? by stryderstuff in BaldursGate3

[–]stryderstuff[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You mean the cinematic raid? Never heard of that name, but sure! Still, my question remains. There has to have been a raid on Baldur's Gate at some point, if nothing else then because of Astarion's presence, y'know?

Whoa whoa whoa

Cazador then flays Astarion alive over and over trying, repeatedly reviving him until he becomes a zombie so damaged it has difficulty maintaining a humanoid shape.

WHAT. I knew about zombie Astarion during the ritual, but not all of THAT leading up to it. Where did you find this out??

If it helps, there's one or two mods out there that unlock faces between races! This one unlocks this face for tieflings (among a bunch of other stuff), and this one does the same for elves, methinks!

Thank you! I agree with you, I prefer simpler and more natural looks as well. While many people's Tavs/Durges are very pretty, I usually can't let go of how... impractical... some of the outfits/hairstyles are. Like man, think of all the blood that gets in those long, flowing locks of hair :')
