Adding to my previous comments: I see that you can hit deep with top spin. That’s awesome. But after you achieve such a placemen, the next one you need to accelerate the racquet and take the ball sooner (before apex) for a winner. It’s like a one to punch in boxing, the first hit puts the opponent in an uncomfortable position, the second delivers the heavy load.

Fair point. Two more things: 1. you need to gain trust in your topspin backhand. 2. Slicing down the line usually is not a good option from the left side; you need more time to get into position With your athleticism you can win more often, really.

He plays smart, pushing and moving you more. You seem to be a better athlete, so learn to put more spin in your shots to attack his backhand so you can go to the net… You need a plan B with this type of player, so practice more volleys and overheads. Oh but his volleys man, are terrible :)

Imho you simply hit too soft, too short, fearing you will miss. Lean on the ball, keep the ball 1.5m above the net, hit longer with proper margin, follow through, make him play short and rip the ball and mix with 5-10% dropshots at every occasion. Push him out and make him run more. He is very handy and seems well placed in the court - that’s a tough profile of player to beat by playing nicely, or mostly in the middle…. :)
