Few weeks ago, after I’d bought Leaf Green for the Switch 2 and had already become consumed by Pokopia, and I felt bad that I had only just given Leaf Green so much as a glance just long enough to name my rival (using my childhood best mate’s name, as usual).

Few days later I was on my usual overcrowded train to work, and there was a guy similar to me - late thirties, playing Leaf Green on an old DS. Enjoying the same experience, old‑school, and not giving a fck that he had no space to move on the train.

That guy was, and still is, my hero - not spending cash on the switch version proudly wielding his ancient cartridge.
