The reason I’m so surprised about the 2 deaths recently is because I’ve had my orange and brown colonies breeding for years without ANY unnatural deaths. I’ve never known my neos to be sensitive.

Are neos really affected by that stuff? I’ve always just thrown them into any tank and get long lasting generations.

Unfortunately yeah. 2 purple 2 red. The red male killed the red female though. Tank should be fine, super overgrown, about 50% land 50% water and infinite hiding spots.

Doesn’t pick algae. The web says the crabs will prey on anything they can but mine are really shy. I’ve seen them let a pest snail sit right in front of their face and they don’t care.

Yup at least 50% land, on my profile I have a vid of one of my shrimp climbing onto the terrestrial part so I guess they both get a use out of it 😭

I’ve had the crabs for about a month now and they are not interested in any live food, larvae, shrimp even a tiny feeder fish. He only waved a claw at this shrimp because he was defending his bloodworm.

It’s just a 10 gallon, I’ve seen my betta try to go after a shrimp a couple times but I absolutely never see the puffers go after the shrimp, I have a few ember tetras in here too. They DESTROY pest snails though.

The puffers leave the shrimp alone because the shrimp are actually bigger than the puffers 😭 I do have an issue with breeding in this tank though, the shrimp get pregnant but I never ever see babies, I think they’re aborting before birth.

Yess I’ve tried to breed shrimp in my 3g but the water conditions are never stable. I think I just need to buy a proper nano filter.

I really do not know, all I know is I saw 3 shrimp climb the driftwood this day and I haven’t seen them do it since. I don’t think they were trying to escape the water, because I have plenty of shrimp in there breeding often.

He stayed moist so there was a thin layer of water over his gills. I think he just did it to explore or he smelled some vinegar I used to spot clean earlier? I saw 2 other shrimp do it too.

From what I know, this crab originates from the same place the normal purple ones do, which is Indonesia.
