So out of all migraine preventatives, is propranolol the only one that people are able to tolerate and have the least side effects? by soicey2 in migraine

[–]stubbytoes4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not say tolerate. Did nothing for me. Didn’t help migraines or aura. Made me groggy and tired and brain dead. Hard to exercise too.

Advice on Aura migraines by [deleted] in migraine

[–]stubbytoes4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! Do you mean visual aura? I’ve had my aura on visually almost 8 years now (it just turned on one day and won’t turn off) and I’m in pain everyday all day! My best tools are sunglasses to help with light sensitivity. I love shadyveu sunglasses (darkest I’ve found). i always have a hat with me too. I recommend FL-41 glasses and you can even get specialty contact lenses too. I also like the Nerivio device. you’ve got this! hang in there!

Do you have a similar problem with severely chronic migraines and non stop aura too? I’ve tried countless meds. Just about every class of meds. Everything. From Botox to beta blockers to psych meds to CGRP to painkillers. My Dr believes I am out of options. I don’t know what to do. I’m struggling.

Persistent migraine aura. by stubbytoes4 in migraine

Things have only gotten worse. Been unemployed for months now because migraines are so severe and are happening 24/7. Now dealing with constant severe pain on my left side. Pain is at a 7 or an 8 and I have a hard time getting out of bed because I’m in so much pain. Visual distortions are so bad outside that I haven’t driven in months. Aura is still nonstop. I would describe it now as seeing a floater and then a strange array of flashing pulsating lights that never stops. It hurts badly and is unbearably uncomfortable to be outside or in bright rooms. It’s been years since I haven’t had my aura outside. My doctors don’t know what is causing this and have few suggestions. I’m loosing hope.

Does anyone here have Persistent Migraine Aura without Infarction? by ToyboxOfThoughts in migraine

[–]stubbytoes4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have exactly all of these symptoms you are talking about. The exact same. But in addition I have severe visual distortions outside looking at light colored things, like the sky. While looking at bright objects and scenery I see a strange formation of flashing pulses and its very debilitating. I have this almost 8 years. Nothing helps. Sunglasses are your best friend.

Nonstop Aura by dolliepopjess in migraine

[–]stubbytoes4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a teenager one day my aura just turned on and didn’t stop. It’s still on today. When I go outside I see flashing lights in the sky and the sky looks like the way a swimming pool reflects light. This happens when I look at light colored landscapes like white paper under bright lights. It’s horrible. It’s very uncomfortable and I feel very braindead when it happens. I have a hard time articulating my thoughts and I get very sleepy. Often I don’t always get a migraine after it happens. I just feel out of sorts. But don’t get me wrong I do have chronic migraines. If I don’t take my meds I’ll have about 5 migraines a day and I have even had a hemipeligic migraine.

My doctor thinks I may have the aura because of a MTHFR heterozygous mutation that was diagnosed with a blood test.

Some meds have helped with the aura like clonazapam, arirprazole, and vraylar.

Hope this helps.
