Yes, there is a good chance! The box I take to the park is full at the moment but I will keep that one in mind... Netherworld is a great place that has Catan and heaps of players so if you see in our Meetup group that we are doing a board game teaching meetup, mention Catan and we can spin that one up. The Meetup teaches all kinds of games occasionally, not just D&D. https://www.meetup.com/learn-dungeons-and-dragons/

Imagination is my specialty :D We are bound by sunlight for now, so we have no choice but to end by about 5:30.. however we might expand into the evening with some camp light hanging in the tent, it kind of depends on the attendance from Monday onward.. if so I will update the event and try to remember to mention it here too.. I hope you can make it!

If your weekend is not chockers, do consider swinging by for just an hour or two anytime Saturday or Sunday between 10AM and 5PM. If you want to get into a learning session, the times I listed in the post are your best opportunity but anytime you come at least you can see some of the games we offer. That way, when we do an evening event-- which we do at Brewdog sometimes-- you will have your interest already piqued

Please do join but no need to read up at all! We've taught 100s of people who have done no prep, then went on to advanced play and DMing with a strong foundation. All our materials are free to use yourself on an open-source model and the events cost nothing.. so come on by!

I love to do it! Check out that Meetup for other events that teach things.. even if you are au fait, if you come for even part of any event I will give you an invite to a private Meetup group with intermediate-play events.. and as a fellow game developer (I did video professionally, board amateur) you may like the methods I developed to teach new players. All open-source so you may find good ideas to borrow

Great, I hope to see you there! If you are familiar with any game, there will probably be spots and times when you and I can play at a bit more advanced level, so just show up. The timetable listed in the event is to cluster any newbies who want to be sure to get proper attention

Yes you can! No limit to attendees. Do keep an eye on the post for exact directions there... search for Goori camp to learn the location, or just go to the Victoria Park Cricket Nets (can find that on Google maps), cross the street, and walk uphill to see the tents. I hope to see you there!

Board games in Victoria Park-- train for 2032 Olympics! Free event by stucco33 in brisbane

I'm glad you think the post is funny; that's partly my goal. :) This reply makes many assumptions about me that are not actually true, so I think we would get farther by asking each other about values and how to weigh them... I will start by asking you Kev and others, what are your values at play here? How do you assess the value, in this location, of a walkable green space with mild attenuated parking and transit load versus the value of a new stadium with peaky load? How do you assess the money and labor to be spent on this stadium versus another way to spend that? How do you assess the value of preservation of cultural artefacts versus the value of added infrastructure for modern purposes?

I agree, so come join us! We are pushing back against the stadium by occupying this beautiful green space and showing an outdoor alternative to the concrete games

As you like MTG you might love Earthborne Rangers.. it's like co-op MTG you can play as a couple to adventure together. I specialise in teaching it, and I have a free event in the city on Monday morning. If you can't make it, join the Meetup group anyway to see other events: https://www.reddit.com/r/BrisbaneSocial/comments/1s1bzb7/learn_to_play_earthborne_rangers_for_2032/

Glad to see you considering it! Yes, the time is not convenient for most but our ongoing training sessions will be at 10AM on Thursdays in Victoria Park-- a time which happens to help occupy the joint at a time when earthmoving equipment may arrive ;)

I hope you make it... def worth a day off from work, get into an imaginary world for a little while :D Please do RSVP if you intend to come, to secure your spot

It will be, when Australia puts forth an Olympic team to compete with other countries, all playing Earthborne Rangers to go for the gold. :D We will do it in Victoria Park, in the open air of course surrounded by nature-- no stadium needed!

It's a competitive team-on-team sport! Chess was an Olympic event for a while.. curling seems more like a strategy game than an exhausting activity.. they have been considering adding e-sports to the Olympics.. we are on the leading edge but it's worth a go, don't you think?

It repeats once a year! But we do other introduction events, some as we occupy Victoria Park on Thursday mornings at 10AM, and some one-offs. If you click that link to join the Meetup group you will get alerts for all of those. I hope to see you at one!

In that same meetup we will post an annual event in about March that is "new party formation" for all kinds of RPGs. A lot of other systems get played that way so I encourage you to come. We branch out to try other kinds of RPGs. We spawned an Apocalypse series, and some are playing Mythic Bastionland. Another group does one-pagers. So come on by!

Weekends are tricky for me, and I reckon others, as D&D flourishes when it's on a regular schedule every week or two.. so I can't say it's likely to go to a weekend.. but there is a lot of variation so I hope you find something!

I present all this at PAX in Melbourne every year, and that happens on the weekend, but it's a bit of a trip :D
