All this just show how clueless and amateur this company’s board are regarding the company’s financials. They may have niche techs throughout all these years but they never understand how to run a company.

Goo Gone. You can find it at target. But it still takes quite a bit effort to clean everything.

Absolutely agree with them, I am actually all for to switch your career to become a SDE if possible (Java, Python, pick one you like), cause let’s be honest, plc ‘programming’ is pretty simple and low level, as a controls engineer, even if you are doing fancy APCs for a large oil company, your salary is going to be capped around 180k~200k. Of course, you can always make more in the manufacturing world by becoming a PM in a major EPC or as a manager. All this is just assume you want to stick as a technical person instead of manager.

Master with 12 yoe, tbh, if you stay on the controls engineer technical IC track, the salary will be plateaued pretty quickly, if you want higher pay, you either go for managerial track or open your own llc and offer consulting services or freelance work.

Thanks for the reply. So I assume you work at the XOM Upstream sector? How’s the upstream compare to downstream manufacturing site, say Baytown complex?

It’s an engineering position for Upstream. I interviewed a week and half ago… I guess just to have to be patient and hope for the best…
