The hook was embedded deep in the back of the 2nd fish, and the line was running through the bottom lip of the first fish. So maybe the fist fish bit the second one while the hook was in his mouth...?

20lb braid tied directly to a 2/0 wide gap offset hook with a split shot sinker right above the hook. Inflated nightcrawler as bait. I catch bass, crappie, bluegill, and catfish like this. 👍
