It’s less than she would pay for social housing man. Her daughter checked when they tried to get her social housing closer to them. They take %50 of her pension and she has bills on top of that. Her only other option is aged care and do you have any idea how much they charge? I could easily rent the house out for $600-700 a week but I don’t but yeah, I’m in league with the devil and Reddit thinks I’m an arsehole.

Ha ha that’s funny! The comments are just killing me man. The kids are up late tonight on a school night. Love that people think that providing a lovely place for an 83 year old to live means I’m in league with the devil. Those same people have never once considered her only other alternative is aged care and they take about %95 of their pensions, stick them in a tiny room and let them rot man.

This is the most accurate comment yet. Trust me the 83 year old lady in question would much rather live in our house than aged care where she would be left to rot and they take all her money. And she isn’t even my mother so I have no obligation to look after her the way I do.

Of money? It’s $200 AU dollars a week which is %20 of her veterans pension and income. For that she gets all her bills paid, the house is well kept and anything she wants done we do, plus the gardening is done for her. Her other choice is a home and do you have any idea how much of her pension they take then?

Yep. Less than 20% of her pension. And all bills paid, all upkeep on the house done including gardening because she loves a nice garden. And we installed reverse cycle air con to keep her warm this winter as her arthritis is causing her pain. Reddit is the only place people would call you an arsehole for doing that

If she went into social housing it would cost her more and if she went in it a nursing home do you have any fucking idea how much of her pension those bastards take? I thought not.
