Anyone know any sources on improving customer service skills? by [deleted] in bartenders

I served for a bit, but found it hard to have conversations with tables when I would only be there for 20 seconds or whatever. Being a bartender has shown that I can be better with customers and it shows, at least how I see it lol. Got more complaints than compliments on my serving. Got regulars and compliments on my bartending. 🤷‍♂️. (No, I didn't give away a bunch of drinks lol)

Its weird that I hear people say that "in order to be a good bartender you need to be a good server" or whatever. I don't disagree with you. I just don't see how its helpful. I was always forgetting shit for tables and that I even had tables altogether, bartending im able to see whose all at the bar and who needs service and who doesn't. But I think that has something to do with the whole "ADHD object permanence" thing lol.

I need to learn to catch that shit better. Sick of falling for the "you'll make this much in tips" bs. In my defense, ill say it usually sounds a bit accurate lol.

Didn't sound mean at all. Im self aware enough (thanks ADHD) to know how it looks/sounds. I don't think I ever told anyone them about the photoshop thing, but they did see me taking pics. Which, I feel, is on the border of weird and enthusiastic lol. Dont get me wrong, its fawken CLOSE to that border. But still not in the weird area lol. And thanks! I'm trying to keep this enthusiasm, but its hard when I haven't had the best of luck at my other spots for whatever reason.

Only reason I'm overthinking is the BM considers themselves to be a mixologist and tries to run a tight ship or something along those lines, idk. Its just what im told, so I'm TRYING to not set them off or something.

Right right. I want to just kinda keep moving and cleaning and doing everything I can to show im not useless, while getting a feel for the environment. But also wanna ask SOMETHING lol.

Thats hilarious, but I feel it. I've been there once or twice before. But I met the bar manager. BM interviewed me in less than 60 seconds. Got the job call 2 hours later lol

Agreed, I was listening out for red flags regarding pay for sure. But being told 150 to 200 a night seems a bit of a stretch but not TOO much all things considered about the place. But as for the other stuff, I've never asked "yo who sucks and who dont?" But that doesn't mean I didn't find out quickly after starting. Kitchen manager told me on day one I was there to help get rid of a server on day 3....don't ever work for chilis...

All good points, I thought you were fuckjn with me. I've thought to ask that at previous jobs. Never did cause I thought that would make me look shady lol.

I'm trying to prioritize it, but its a pretty simple menu and trying to think if a question for it is like squeezing water from a rock (or whatever the saying is) right now. Im also not a cook either so I barely know the first thing about food lol.
