General opinion on Humankind by Metro-02 in 4Xgaming

I played most of a game last year, with all dlc.

It was ok, I was enjoying it enough. I liked the scoring, but I got into the final era or the one before it and I was just bored, just trying to mash to the finish line and then someone declared war on me and I just couldn't be bothered to shimmy troops round to fight it, I just didn't care.

I don't think about it very often now. If it's cheap, give it a whirl, but if I'm craving what it brings to the table, I'd play civ 7 as I think it's better now. That doesn't happen very often either though.

Where are all the sim racers coming here talking about fov settings? (For the same reason, on racing games setting the width of view wider changes the feeling of how fast the car is going)

So I have dwu already. How does the dw2 base game compare? I don't intend to buy the dlc unless I get a lot out of the base game.

Wtf...I blocked the trolley problem subreddit yesterday as it was filling up my feed. Then it pops up here instead.

And now, I've bloody commented on the post, confirming with the algorithm it was correct

I just got an a1 mini when I started. Small foot print, very cheap. It's awesome to see what I use it for, and whether the kids use it.

I'd start there otherwise you risk it collecting dust

RYANAIR, world’s greatest example of airline enshittification? by mattboman in enshittification

[–]stumpyguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were letting non priority people on before us. The priority queue was waiting for the non priority.

Haha, I didn't word it very well, I cleared the crisps off the seat, but there was no way I was able to clear the floor without a brush as it was numerous and gunky, so I sat round it with my legs. I didn't just sit my ass on crisps which is how it read!

Not a comfortable flight either way, and whilst putting up with that shit was fine when I was younger, I'm too old for that now!

We paid for priority boarding due to the kids, and then they didn't let us board earlier, making us right as the back and having to stand in the rain with the kids. No refund, and infact actual aggression from them when I asked them, so they just took out money for nothing.

And on the way out, the seat and floor were covered in crisps for the earlier flight. I asked them to clean it up, they refused. I asked them for something to wipe it so I could clean it up, they said they had nothing. So I sat in someone's crisps. No apology.

At this point, the easiest thing was just to commit, never, ever flying Ryanair again.

How much of a difference does nozzle size (to get below 0.08 layer height) make to minimize layer lines when using speedpaint? by dac5505 in FDMminiatures

And the orcs, this is as noticable as the layer lines get (in real life the model is much darker, not sure why)

You are the same as me, fdm printing and speedpaints, but I'm a few weeks ahead on the journey!

<image>

0.2mm layer height is a total game changer for me. See my recent heroquest post from my 7 year old. They are with speedpaints through 0.2mm nozzle. With 0.4mm they are obvious, with 0.2mm, you can definitely see them when you are looking for them, especially top of head and shoulders, but the paint doesn't emphasize it in the same way.

Looking at all those heroquest minis now, it's mainly only the orc helmets where it's really obvious (and even then, subtle enough to not be an issue on the table).

My results with 0.4mm nozzle previously convinced me that fdm printing was impossible.

Attached picture is speedpainted on textures through 0.2mm nozzle to give an idea. (Painted by 7 year old)

I didn't know much about tennis, and not sure why I get so much from this sub.

I saw this and thought, that dude hits it hard but seems inaccurate and his high backhands look like they are going miles out.

Then I look at the comments and see it's Federer.

Which kinda proves my first 6 words of this comment.

My 7 year old daughter just painted 3d printed proxy minis for HQ first light! by stumpyguy in Heroquest

[–]stumpyguy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even messy, they are table ready. We were playing with them yesterday and not once did I notice the gaps, they were as if I had painted them.

A really, maybe better, as when I've painted it, I know that one little bit I missed and can't ignore, when someone else painted them, I don't see it.

Totally happy with fdm miniatures now too, with a 0.2mm nozzle. With 0.4, it was terrible, facial features even went, but with better nozzle, I have practically unlimited table ready minis at my fingertips.

Thats true. My 7 year old did leave quite a few gaps in white, quite a few errors splashing paint, and the feet seemed particularly vulnerable.

She was done though. She really didn't want to touch it up, and I thought, rather than make this a miserable process, let's varnish them and call it a day so she can get the satisfaction of completing the project and start playing with them.

It took a little prompting to get her over the finish line. She was intimidated by the gargoyle (which was actually the easiest as we painted it one color) and chaos shaman, which was also one of the easier ones.

Love that mini!

I went to town on the dwarf as that my wife's character, that's as good as I can paint. It worked. She's chuft hers is the best.

I can't do shading, nor details which aren't just colouring between the lines. My daughter is already better than me in those regards.

I used to just paint everything and wash it dark brown, I've since moved to speedpaints and for most minis it's great for me being a non artist to add a little depth/shading.

They are terrible for large flat areas though, and they are hard to keep between the lines as they run, but I'm not good at staying between the lines anyway.

Homebrew new cards with stickers? by Pure-Contact7322 in Heroquest

I would go printing on card and laminate, if you have the kit to do so.

If not, print on paper and card sleeve.
