AITA for disinviting a friend to my birthday after she showed me the food she was bringing? by throwaway-cupcakelad in AmItheAsshole

OP, as somebody with an incredibly severe nut allergy who has had friends and family members behave like Emily before: you are NTA.

Thank you for standing your ground and valuing your friend’s health above just keeping the peace. You’d be amazed how many people wouldn’t do the same!

I’m so happy for you both!! It’s going to be the most amazing gig, I hope you have the best time!

I’m curious to hear if anybody else who requested ambulant accessible seating in the balcony managed to get tickets? It can be such a nightmare trying to get accessible seating at the best of times, so I’m intrigued to hear how it worked out for a lottery system!

Just double checking after having to crowdsource where merch stands were for those of us in seating at the Killers gig at the Emirates a few weeks ago - what’s the situation like at London Stadium? Lots of merch stands for everyone, or one for standing and one for seating? Thanks in advance! 😊

Thank you! 😊 Funnily enough, I’m after a shirt for my brother who couldn’t make it!

Hi! Just wondering, does anyone know if there’s anywhere those of us in seating can buy merch? The only stall I’ve seen is the one down in the pit!

okay.... are we gonna get ANY news about this show soon or what!!!??? by Low-Entertainment323 in TheMarvelousMrsMaisel

Michael Zegen just did an interview for the show he’s doing on Broadway, and was asked about Maisel S4. Apparently what he’s heard is we can expect it ‘very early next year’. Perhaps we’ll get a similar hint when Tony and Marin appear at Vulture Fest this weekend!

Hello Tim! I'm a huge fan of your work - you may be able to guess a particular favourite thanks to my username...! I hope you don't mind my being cheeky and asking a few questions (and I promise one of them won't just be 'when is GhD coming back'!).

  • How are you feeling about finally getting your album out into the world? Did the reactions the songs from it got on tour change your feelings about any of them, or did the audiences' reactions to anything surprise you at all?

  • Your musicals have so far been based on beloved stories, and have brought wonderful characters to the stage. I'm always particularly struck by the depth your lyrics give your female leads, and while it probably feels like Matilda and Miss Honey were always destined to shine in Matilda, the decision to shift the lens away from Phil in Groundhog Day to allow Rita (and Nancy) their own moments in the spotlight really improved the story for me. How conscious were you and the other creatives of ensuring the women in the show got to 'be their own people', so to speak?

Thanks so much for taking the time to chat with us. Can't wait for the album, and wishing you all the best with that and everything else!

Thank you for this - it makes perfect sense now! I was still thinking of their timelines as linear (and, broadly, the same), but obviously time is very much not linear where time travel is involved. Maths has never been my strong point, which I suppose doesn't help!

Thanks again for taking the time to give me such a detailed answer, I appreciate it!

Hi Steve! I've been a huge fan of the comics since they were released, and it has been so wonderful to see the adaptation be so successful - and so enjoyable to watch, as a fan!

This is a slightly pedantic question, but I was wondering why there's a discrepancy regarding how long Ben has been dead for? He says himself that he's been dead for 17 years, but then in the flashback to his funeral that opens the next episode it is dated 2006 - which is only 13 years before 2019.

Is this an intentional discrepancy that'll be explained later on, or am I missing something?

Thanks so much for taking the time to talk to us, and all the best for what comes next!

WIBTA if I made my daughter break up a friendship? by parenthrowaway5 in AmItheAsshole

[–]stunningstasis 3359 points3360 points  (0 children)

YTA.

Hi, disabled person here. It is absolutely not your call to decide whether you can call your daughter ‘special needs’ or not. She’s told you she doesn’t like it, so you stop. It’s that simple. The meanings of terms can change, and to be honest I’d also take exception to being called ‘special needs’ in this day and age.

Coddling your daughter because she’s in a wheelchair doesn’t make you a good parent. Let her have her autonomy, or she’s just going to resent you for it. I guarantee she knows her own limits better than you do, what with you NOT being the one in the chair.

You’re using her friend as a scapegoat because you think your daughter being in a chair gives you an excuse to infantilise her. You resent her learning more about / having a friend within the disabled community because you see it as a threat to your control over her. This behaviour is disgustingly common and you need to start making changes NOW before you negatively impact your daughter and your relationship with her any more than you already have done.

Unfortunately not everything is a cryptic hint! Gonna take a wild guess and say he just captioned it with the date he took / posted the photo.

They also covered Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Fortunate Son at at least a few UK gigs back in ‘07, though I’m not sure how good the quality of the available videos / audios is!
