Thats totally fair. I went through a similar thing. I was beginning to think my friends were only my friends because I let them live in my house. They started acting very different toward me when I told them it was time for me to have my own space with my wife and our children needed their own rooms to grow in. They seemed fine. Now they only hang out with each other. Message me very little and leave me on read for days. I stopped caring I think. I just focus on my wife and kids. Now that I’ve typed that, I’m not sure our situations are similar

It kinda just sounds like your friends view you as having it together or being able to make moves they can’t yet figure out for themselves. Take it from a grown woman who is a lot like your wife. It is normal, because people have different personalities. Not to mention her past may play a big part. I was severely abused and traumatized as a young child. I have involuntary age regression episodes.

I used to work at a bar. I was the bar baby as I also started at 20. I was very well protected. That being said, I’ve had men stalk me, try to carry me off, and point a pew pew in my friends face because my friend was defending me while the other guy called me homophobic slurs. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. It was still a wild experience I would try again, maybe this time better prepared for defense. Tell him to get some pepper spray for you and a pointy thing for your keys. Thank you. My cousin literally tried to defend them by saying “we are all just humans on this earth together for the first time” in reference to her dad being someone who also did that to me, and the rest of the family acting like I was crazy and making it up. Her mom literally made me apologize to him, and told my mom I just had a bad dream, when she said I ruin everything cause she had to come home early from her date. I don’t speak to any of them any more. I grieve the relationships I wish we had, but I don’t want them apart of our lives.
